From my general experience, you should hold the left stick in the direction of the base you're running to, so in reading your post, it looks like you have the general gist of how to run the bases down. They changed the RTTS baserunning between the '08 and the '09 versions of the game - why, I don't know, as it seemed to work fine in '08 to me. I agree that it can be very frustrating.Comment

Yes I have found the LS is the answer, pointing it I think sort of relative to what you are seeing, ie if cam is behind you on 2nd, you point it to the right to go to 3rd. I think thats what I do. I also had a hard time learning this.
As far as pickoffs, I have seen that too and what I do if I'm on first, is lean the left stick toward first and hold it, until the pitcher releases the ball, that way you dive right back quickly if he does throw over. Since I started doing that, btw, thre has never been a throw over. My guy is super slow right now, so I don't even think abut stealing. Just staying alive!Comment

Re: RTTS Baserunning.. dont get it?!
An easy way for me to tell if im about to be picked off, is my first base coach will say back. I dont know how yalls volume is, but I play mine in the middle so I am able to hear him say back. I havent been picked off in a while. Of course I dont do any crazy leadoffs either. Just that 1 extra step after the computer walks off the base.Comment
