Tv Lag Game Changer
I have been playing the show since 07, I've always been able to hit the ball alright but not overpower to the gaps or consistent homeruns, once in awhile get the big hits but always seem to be uncomfortably guessing more if its in the zone, so the other night I tried game mode on my tv and all of a sudden I can hit the ball with force, not guessing if its in the zone. Its wierd but that little bit of lag makes that much of a difference! It is amazing how much better this game feels, I can actually have a great pitcher, batter duel of 11 pitches and I'm getting walked now! I also can pitch way better for hitting the accuracy marker and my dives and jumps at the wall just seem better! Just thought I would share with some people that are having troubles with hitting. I personally didnt think it made that much of a difference but it did on my tv and its brand new 240hz led also.Last edited by reddog01; 05-04-2010, 11:24 AM.Tags: None -

Lag makes so much difference. I can't wait until I get a new TV, because my 8ms response time just isn't quick enough on mine.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -
Re: Tv Lag Game Changer
It makes a huge difference. I wonder how many people are playing that have no idea?
Until about 1 month ago I had been playing the MLB series on a 4 year old rear projection LCD TV with very little lag. It died and was replaced (under extended warranty
) with a Samsung Plasma. While it's a beautiful TV, it does have a little bit more lag than my old one. I can't justify spending any money on upgrading it at this time so I'm willing to live with it, but it's certainly noticeable to me.
I also have a Samsung LCD TV in my bedroom, but I can't play MLB on it at all due to very bad lag ("game mode" doesn't even fix it).Comment

Re: Tv Lag Game Changer
I recently bought a new LED-LCD Samsung and about freaked out when I first tried the show on it. Lag was horrid and then I found game mode and my heart rate went back to normal.
There's no lag at all with game mode on my Samsung. And 55" of The Show w/o lag is pretty damn awesome.

Yes. Game Mode is your friend. It disables all the filters that can slow down the game.I have been playing the show since 07, I've always been able to hit the ball alright but not overpower to the gaps or consistent homeruns, once in awhile get the big hits but always seem to be uncomfortably guessing more if its in the zone, so the other night I tried game mode on my tv and all of a sudden I can hit the ball with force, not guessing if its in the zone. Re: Tv Lag Game Changer
Guys where do I find game mode? On my tv settings or in the game settings of mlb '10 the show?
I'm also experiencing crazy lag!
Many thanksComment

Re: Tv Lag Game Changer
It varies based on TV. It isnt in the game, it is in the Settings for your TV. Some older TV's don't have the Game mode setting I believe.PSN: ckarlic

Re: Tv Lag Game Changer
Lag sucks for baseball games. Most other games its not a big deal, but baseball it is. I mostly play on an old school 60 in projection tv in the basement, but occasionally will bring the PS3 upstairs to my 42 inch LCD and the difference is night and day even with game mode on. It sucks cuz the game is beautiful in HD.
The question I have does it matter how good your HDMI cable is? Will there be less lag if I get a better one?Comment

To Guigsdaddy: The Game Mode setting will be in the TV options...either under picture settings or "Setup" in all that I've seen. Some TV's don't have it though.Comment

Re: Tv Lag Game Changer
No, there is no "good" or "bad" HDMI cable...it passes a digital signal, so it either works or it doesn't. There is no difference in quality between the expensive Monster brands or generic radio shack brands. It's just marketing ploys.Lag sucks for baseball games. Re: Tv Lag Game Changer
No, it's not a game issue. The lag occurs in your TV as it processes the signal coming from your PS3. It's not noticeable on most game types because they aren't as timing dependent as hitting is in baseball.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Tv Lag Game Changer
this samsung doesn't let me change the settings once I set it to game mode. The Brightness is only in the 40s, so it's kind of dark. I just played in game mode tho and went 2-2. I was in a horrible slump too.Comment
