    Franchise Firesale

In my Pirates franchise I'm approaching the trade deadline.

I'm looking to have a true firesale and pretty much get rid of all the veterans in favor of prospects.
I figure the team is going to be bad a season or two anyway, so I might as well get something for these guys.

Who should stay? Who should go?

The top two players I'm really interested in keeping are Garrett Jones (Who I may move to 1B.) and McCutchen.

Just trying to spark some fun and keep my interest in the franchise going.

I got rid of almost all of the pitching and position players in my Pirates chise. I went after 1b Smoak (Tex), SS Brignac (TB), 2b Beckham (chi), C Montero (NYY), OF Mitchell (Chi), a bunch of pitchers potential B and greater. I kept Doumit, McCuthen, and Jones...everyone else was sent packing. Made the playoffs in year two but lost in 5 in the first round to LA.

Iwamora and Larcohe can get you a decent return, along with your starting staff. It helped me to pick up waiver guys as well so I could offer them arbitration and let them go in the offseason for more draft picks. Now I am loaded with young position talent, really young pitching that I supplemented with vets via free agency. You can help your staff out by signing free agents after you ship off all your guys.

Smoak will definitely be my #1 target.

Did you take a SS with your 1st pick in the draft?

Seems like the most needed position.

Nah, i got Brignac from TB for cheap and Solicado from Atl for cheap as well. They are both young and rated well. In my draft I went for stud SP first year and second year Power OF. Now that I made the playoffs, my draft picks will be best available or RP probably.

I like Brignac against RHP and Solicado against LHP as Brignac has no hot zones against LHP....not sure if that is entirely accurate for real life, never looked...I may do that and adjust him if needed.

Pirates seem to need Power hitting the most for me at least. Jones is good for yard and Alvarez is pretty decent there too so far, but other than them it is pretty dry. Smoak is getting there, but it may take a while with him it seems. I think he finished with 22hr for his first full season...only hit .258 I think, but not too shabby since I hit him 7th I think.

I've done a couple dry runs through the franchise before and I've noticed the Jason Kubel becomes a free agent. He's a guy I might target for some LF power. But because Jones is a lefty too I'll have to bring in a guy like Thames just to hit LHP.
That would be all the power I'd probably need. Especially if I go out there and get Smoak @ 1B.

It would allow me to have some nice contact guys @ 2B and SS since I already would have Cutch in CF.

Doumit isn't a slouch either but I'm not sure what I want to do with him, especially with Tony Sanchez. One of them is gone.
