Fine with it for the most part, but I had a few issues with online franchise in Madden and the Cerberus Network for Mass Effect 2.

Premium pricing DEMANDS premium service...I 100% expect that with EA charging extra to access the servers that we will get servers (AND FEATURES) at least as good as what we had back in 2003 when Madden NFL 2004 and NCAA 2004 were on the PS2.

I expect to be able to preview lobbies BEFORE entering them.
I expect to have smooth connections and NO LAG.
I expect to have voice-chat in lobbies with one button push.

If these are not there, then EA can ... ah, who am I kidding, this is just the latest example of EA throwing the metaphorical soap down in front of us and demanding that we pick it up for them....BOHITCA forever!

I'm not sure that you understood the article. EA isn't charging anything at all for online play. It comes free with the game. It's just that only the original purchaser of the game can play online for free. If you buy it used at a discounted price, then you'll have to pay $10 to get online play.

I'm most likely buying new, so it doesn't affect me, but my system breaks down, so I get a new one, will I have to pay $10? The online is full of cheesers anyways.

Too bad EA doesn't show their commitment to online play by ensuring that the servers aren't crap the first few weeks after each title launches.

Think bigger guys.....this is the first step towards the eventual digital game movement. Used games will cease to exist in the near future because games will be bought online and stored digitaly.

I played over 100 games online and never had one game that lagged badly. I would call your ISP.

That's pretty much what has already happened to the PC market; a large majority of people purchase digital versions of the game and I don't hear many complaints.

I have no problem paying $60 for a new copy IF the gameplay is there and they have finally done away with the arcade style of gameplay ("wide open gameplay") we got the last two years.
