Madden NFL 11 Feature at Kotaku - Box Scores: An Instant Classic

Kotaku has posted one of their weekly featured articles. This one courtesy of Ian Cummings, the creative director, and Ronnie Morales, the audio designer, for Madden NFL 11, respectively. There is no video, but they do offer 2 screen grabs.

"Garrard kept the Patriots guessing, hitting [Mike] Sims-Walker for two big gains, and audibling to a huge draw play to Maurice Jones-Drew that he tore off for 18 yards on 3rd and 10. Before anyone could blink an eye, the Jaguars were at first and goal on the 5 yard line with 20 seconds left and no timeouts.

First down: lob to Sims-Walker in the corner of the endzone. Batted away.
Second down: Pass to Jones-Drew slipping out of the backfield. Knocked down at the line
Third down: Pass to Sims-Walker at the sideline. Knocked away.
Fourth and goal on the 5, seven seconds remaining. Gus Johnson and Cris Collinsworth are having conniptions, both can't believe the whole game is coming down to this. Garrard drops back in the pocket, and finds no one open. He does the only thing he can do: run. He slips between the tackle and guard, and high-tails it towards the pylon. As the defense closes in around him, No. 9 takes one last gasp and hurls himself towards the endzone. TOUCHDOWN JAGUARS!"

Re: Game of the week from Ian Cummings. No video!!

Well I dont see why they even did this, if their not going to post videos.

However its impossible for the jags to play the pats in the superbowl.

I would've like to have seen a video of that game.

LOL dude it's just the new SB mode they have put in the game on the main menu this year. It ain''t a big deal. It's nothing more then just a mode for people to play teams they want to see in the SB agaist each other. I think it's going to be a fun mode.

the Super Bowl exhibition mode allows you to pick any team you want..conference affiliation isn't a concern.

What an absolute waste of time this was for me to read AND Ian to write.

Hell, I could sit down and write a story about a Madden game, too, but I wouldn't waste my time as I am sure 99.999999% of the people in this world couldn't care less if it isn't accompanied by some video.

Agreed 100% with you bro. But I think because of the marketing department. Ian is not allow to put out video right now. The only time we will get offical video is within the next 2 weeks at E3. But it is a nice read.

Well don't shoot the messager. I only posted it just for people to see what he wrote. It's a nice little story of his game. We will get plenty of video soon enough my friend. E3 is 2 weeks away.

2 things about this....if you read it closely, you'll see they MUST have been playing on 5 minute quarters to only get 1 posession each in the 3rd. Yet, look at the final score...red flag for me.

And WHY do we only get info about head-to-head games every year from IAN?? Head to head hides a multitude of sin in Madden. I want to see some 1P vs. CPU and CPU vs. CPU. Then we can see what the real deal is with the game.

                              Actually......

Jacksonville sprinted to a 21-6 halftime lead thanks to an interception and Cummings' efficient playcalling. Coming back from the half, however, Morales and the Patriots scored on their first drive, forced a three-and-out, and then scored again. But a bold two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the score at 21-19 with 0:24 to go in the third quarter.
Morales had at least 2 possessions in the 3rd quarter. There is nothing that states they played 5 minute quarters. Maybe they did, but you can't determine that from reading that article.
