The "crappy" AI just crushed me 16-0 (5 min. quarter)

I was Carolina v. LA (Pro level)....couldn't do anything on offense. Picks weren't outrageous but I was sacked 7 times...comp only threw one pick.

I think it matters who you're playing with (and against)...just when I was thinking it was too easy this happened.

I also have to say it's great to be excited about video football again. EA drained the enthusiasm out of me over the past 5 years but now it feels like there's hope...no the game isn't perfect, but you can see and feel the potential and for the first time in years there's something to be excited about.

Yes, while playing against certain teams can be 100% enjoyable and realistic, there are still too many picks otherwise, but if you try hard enough you can get a very good game.

I am completely LOVING the game. I really can't express how happy I am with it. It has it flaws but as a whole it has done a remarkable job for a first time football outing.

I have seen thing in 3 days of backbreaker football that I have NEVER seen in any other football title.

      1) Pass TRULY bouncing off shoulder pads of WRs
      2) Above plus them ending up as true realistic looking picks.
      3) Players reaching for first downs and endzones is AMAZING!!
      4) Players continuing to drive their feet for first downs.
      5) Tackles are crazy realistic
      6) Fumbles happening on impact and not a random dice roll

I have seen something that are just incredible. For instance a couple things. Today I saw a pass bounce off a WRs shoulder pad, watched the pad move to the deflection of the ball. Hands of the WR just not closing fast enough on ball and it making its way through. The ball then kicked up and ended up in the safety hands.

Watched as my running back gets hit, then continue to drives his feet after contact and LEAPS forward stretching his arm out for the first down.....I was

Ohhh a real good one I saw on my first online game against my old man. He threw a pass to his TE over the middle. I was playing safety and read the pass. I was closing on the ball just as it got released. I was 6 to 8 feet from the TE as he made the catch. He then brings the ball down with his right arm and right as he gets ball tucked away. I do a barge tackle and just lay my should perfectly square on the ball. Boom his arm takes the blow and gets kicked away from his body, sending the ball flying out into mid field tumbling around. He ended back up with the ball as a offensive line men scooped it up. But wow what a amazing feeling causing a REAL fumble and watching the physics work it out perfectly.

The ball physics are stellar...well the physics in general are stellar. It has its warts, but it's a fun game of football and that's something I haven't been able to say for probably 5 years. If they patch up some of the bugs and annoying nuances I'll have no reason to buy one of the "other" titles.

It kind of makes you wonder why this game can be so far ahead of the EA titles in the physics arena??? EA has been trying to polish the same turd year after year....

I almost had my first kick return for TD, made it to around the 20 before I got run down.

Then made it to the 10 for a punt return. I should of had it, made a great stiff arm but he just did not have the strength to keep him from making the hit.

Also my passing has improved GREATLY. I threw for 256 yards, 3 TDs, 1 int in my first online game. Then in most my games against the CPU, I average around 2 to 3 picks a game. So I am really happy I am seeing realistic stats. Considering I started playing throwing around 7 or 8 picks. I am getting much better cycling WRs and also have a MUCH better time reading defenses

I have lost one offline game 14-6 due to the other teams RB breaking a couple big runs and was losing another game in RTBB before getting frustrated over not coming close to completing a pass so I turned it off before I went over the edge .

Thats OK. I lost 36-0 against a team in season mode, on pro/hard. I played them again and beat them 20-7.

I returned a one last night. I think it was a punt. Great feeling. I am enjoying warts and all. I usually just pound the ball and punt if needed. I keep the passing at min right now but I have put together a couple decent games in the air. I won the Charge league but did lose to the Breakers. I got to face the league allstars after and lost a close game. I havnt started in the middle league yet but it looks like it will be a challenge.

Yeah, a challenge can be made in this game... One of the things that is really going to go a LONG way for me is the season mode. I spend a few hours last night just setting up different style leagues.

You want a challenge, set youself up with a cupcake team in a monster division. Only division champs get to go to the playoffs sort of like MLB used to be. No wild card, so you better win. I set myself up as some team from Anaheim in a West division with the SF Tridents, Seattle Wolves and the LA team. I got destroyed by Seattle 31-7 in the first game, My DB's had no chance and the CPU CB had 4 TD's and only two picks. Second game was a non division game against the Philly Liberty who thrashed me as well but I fell asleep. So pretty much right there, I was going to be a bottom feeder I could tell, and obviously not make the playoffs in season one.

This game has endless options on how you set up your Teams in season mode, that's not even to mention bringing in created monster teams to play in your division. Having a blast, thanks 505.

I haven't lost a game yet so far. I'm REEAAALLLYY hoping the game gets harder. On defense, I play MLB and D line and I have to say, it's just too easy to get a tackle on 65-70% of the plays that involve running. And on offense, I just run the ball and find the holes in the d. I barely even pass anymore because I don't want to turn the ball over.

Also, on defense, calling dime cover three or Nickle man coverage(cover 2) will stop about all of the plays. The 4-3 formation should be used mostly when the offense lines up in the goalline formation. The game really is pretty easy, you just play it how it wants to be played.

There just isn't enough depth in the offensive playbook to exploit every defensive formation. If the offense lines up a certain way, you should audible to suit that formation and you're probably gonna keep the offense punting. Just make sure that the formation you started with is more of a coverage formation(nickel or dime) and then audible.

And yes, I play on Pro-Hard with five minute quarters. All you need on offense is a good RB and on defense just don't switch players AT ALL because you'll probably mess up the tackle your teammate was about to do or mess up the angle your teammate was taking to GET the tackle.

I'm waiting for the a.i. to put up a

I was getting beat 17-0 in the first half by a custom team that I made with 11 golds on offense. The CPU's QB went 14 for 16, and by the way he had a very high focus rating. I think that might be the key with the pick issue.

I played an exhibition game on custom level with all HUD options off and I lost to the CPU 31-3. I could not run the ball at all and the CPU pounded me for 4td's thru the air. It only threw one pick. I couldn't run the ball and had a pretty good game passing, but kept throwing picks into double coverage. I played as Fresno Wildfire vs. SF Tridents. This game has it's quirks and bugs, but it is very deep and I think it will be a long time before I get tired of it. If NM comes out with a decent patch, this game will omly get better.

I figured out the secret to making season mode work. First you need to have a team rated 69 or lower overall depending on your skill level. You don't want a defense much higher than the mid 50's or the interception bug really kikcs in. The best thing to do is to take advantage of the team creator. My team, the New Orleans Voodoo is rated 75 offense, 55 defense, and 68 overall. I then created about 15 or so teams that are rated at least 70 or more. I even made a couple of 78s which seem to be the max.

I then went into season mode with the following settings. Mode set at custom, difficulty hard, ball highlight off, player highlight off, receiver highlight on, ball carrier highlight off, ball carrier hint on, steering assist on, kicking assist off, play selection advanced, route display off, and most importantly - 10 minute quarters ( AI seems less desperate and doesn't screw up as much on offense).

It still has flaws (stats are off a bit) but the games are super competitive. I got blown out by 21 in my first game. Won the second one by 5 points in a thriller. 35-30 final score.

I am absolutely loving it so far.

Tip - when you want to create a bunch of teams fast , use the copy feature and just tweak the amount of stars.
