Sigh. Game keeps "freezing" on pause screen

Last two games in a row. I say "freezing" because the sound continues running, the organ and PA announcements continue as usual, but I the controller is completely unresponsive (except for the PS3 "Home" button.)

Both times, I hit pause, warmed up a pitcher. When I exit the bullpen screen, the game freezes.

This is absolutely ruining the game for me... anyone have any suggestions? Is anyone else suffering from this?

Similar problem last night, I was playing Rtts with my pitcher, all of a sudden in the middle of the game I was not able to choose any pitch to throw, not even step off the rubber, pitchout etc... I was able to pause the game and exit. Its really frustrating and have already considered dropping this game because of the "fixes". I know its hard to fix bugs without creating new ones but geez, all of this should of been THOROUGHLY tested before the game shipped. I've worked in software for a while so I know its tough but come on now. Next year is a wait and see if its worth it year for me.

Use the d pad to go into the bullpen, I had it freeze once when I used the pause button to get to the pen. Doesn't feeze using the d pad.

This always happens to me when I'm winning in the late innings when I go warm a pitcher up. It freezes all of a sudden, everything moves but the controller gets stuck and cannot move.

ugh this is so annoying because it's hard to play franchise games with this happening.

^^^ This is exactly what happened to me last night in the 8th inning when I went to warm up my closer. Very frustrating, it was a really good intense game. One of my players achieved a career milestone (300th stolen base). I hit a late inning come from behind clutch HR...all erased. Like others have reported, the controller became completely unresponsive except I was still able to access the XMB with the PS button (even allowed me to save a photo of my frozen game screen). I spent all day trying to make time to get a game in, then this happens after playing for an hour. What an infuriating waste of time. I'm the first to praise SCEA for all their efforts, but this type of glitch is really inexcusable. Patch 4 perhaps?

Agreed. The freeze seems to have something to do with going back from the pen to the pause screen, which doesn't happen when using the D-pad. I had a few freezes, too, but never when using this method.

Yep, its buried in a gazillion page thread. If you are using a DL'd roster of the 25 man type, the game dumps the 15 men remaining from the 40 man roster into the free agent pool causing the game to freeze. At least thats what I surmised from the thread. Thats what caused all my freezing after the last patches. I guess if you go with SCEA's or Knight's full 40 man w/ minors you should be ok. Hope this solves some of your issues gents.

I share the frustration because I lost several games after the 3rd patch due to this freeze. A 4th patch would be ideal... in the meantime I agree that the workaround is to only use the D-pad to access the bullpen. Thank god that works (knock on wood), otherwise it would be unplayable.

No, the 25 man thing? It's not the patch. Happened pre patch. I believe what has happened is the AI does not have a clue what to do when you take 15 men OFF the 40 man roster (to insure lineups at the start of the season) OF EACH TEAM, as the game was not programmed to deal with this. So when spring training ends it gets screwed up royally with almost all those cut players winding up on the FA list (it becomes massive after spring training).

It's something that we actually caused when we figured out a workaround. It will only do this in SEASON mode, not franchise mode.
Hope this helps those of you with this problem.

OK, but in my case (as with many others I've read here), the freeze happened in Franchise mode so the above suggestion doesn't really apply. From now on I will try to remember to only access the bullpen via the directional pad and keep my fingers & toes crossed that solves this rather severe problem. I will also be making a Voo-Doo doll and utilizing the help of a Shaman whenever I play MLB 10 to help me get through each game .

This has NOTHING to do with the bullpen freeze. I'm using the standard rosters with a few edits, in a franchise started in early April. and since Patch 3, I have had the game freeze 4 times in the 8th inning while trying to warm up my closer.

Happened to me in Game 5 of the ALCS winning 5-4 against Angels, and I had a 3-1 lead in the series.

While I was at-bat in top of the 9th, I started warming up my pitcher, and didnt even realize how I got to the pause screen, but when I did I couldnt get out.

Only PS Home button works, but other then that control is unresponsive! It sucks because now I have to replay that game and I pitched in and out of trouble several times, and played really hard to be up 5-4 in that game!

It should resolve it because the freeze seems related to going to the pen from the pause screen, not back to the game like you do after exiting from the pen using the d-pad option. I've only had freezes when going back to the pause screen, and only from the pen. Everything else like checking batting order, stats, pinch hitting, work fine.

An acceptable workaround, but an annoying bug if you don't know why it's happening.
