Re: How do you play your franchise?
Seems like a pretty reasonable answer to me jayhawker...
Seriously though OP ... You don't want to play 162, and don't want to sim so what options are there? Playing a sports title w/ a shorter season may be just what the doctor ordered.
You don't have to technically sim, you can do the manager mode where the results are simmed, but you can at anytime change pitchers/hitters etc.
I for one won't play all 162, and know that heading into it...since the goal is to play as many seasons as possible, simming then becomes a must. With season#1 under my belt, and having played over 100 games w/ multiple teams (control all-30) I'm now ready to breeze through some seasons.
What I'm going to do is try to stick w/ one to two teams, the Phillies and one other team. I'll start by playing through the first two months, playing on only Roy Halladay starts. Then, once two months have gone by, and I can sort of see who needs help in the standings, or what team could be a contender but just needs a little help. I'll take that team over, and push them into contention.Last edited by JBH3; 06-03-2010, 03:04 PM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: How do you play your franchise?
I made it through an entire hockey season, once. And hockey has half the games, and they play out quicker than baseball. I've never completed a 162 game season. I put in a good effort for most of the summer, and then move on. But I play other games, so it's just not likely it will happen.
This sumer I'm taking a Calc class and Biology. I don't think I'm going to finish a quarter of a season.
But I am loving the hell out of MLB Today, so the game is still providing me plenty of value.
But if you don't have time to play the games, and don't want to sim, there really is no other answer. Football has a nice 16 game schedule and is very doable.
I guess other ideas could include, quit your job, divorce your wife, and drown your kids.Comment

Re: How do you play your franchise?
not sure if you are aware of this or not but you can shorten the length of the season to wear you only play 2 game series and not 3. or you can play even a shorter season.Comment

Re: How do you play your franchise?
I know you said that you do not like to sim, but I will usually play 2 games of the series if it is against someone in my division and then I will only play 1 game against Non-divisional oppenents in every other series, and will sim the rest. I believe this gives you a more realistic approach to being able to play with your team and manage your team.Comment

Re: How do you play your franchise?
Lol good luck. You will never stay interested long enough to finish 162.Either shorten to 52 but realize that the stats will not be the same.
I dont play Franchise mode in this game My player with a starting pitcher saved me from that.
But last year i would would pick a starter or 2,and only play their games then sim the rest.If you want realistic stats, keep 3 save files for the franchise and just exit out w/o saving if you sim and something completly unrealistic happens(for example Roy Halladay has a bunch of game where he goes 2.1 and gives up 8 runs). Then load it up again and re sim,and when you get a good sim(lack of a better term) just save, time consuming yes but the hitters alteast are for the most part on point with their stats(except for Ryan Howard for some reason he cant hit more than 34 HRs in a season unless you do ALOT of resimming).Just make sure you dont re sim wins for yourself everytime or u will end up with like 130 wins every season.Last edited by SphillyBG; 06-04-2010, 03:42 PM.Comment

Re: How do you play your franchise?
Ok this is my first year in franchise where i WILL be playing every game, yes all 162.
How?
Well it is a little tedious to get to this point now but im playing each Franchise game the day after the real game, i even set my lineup based off of the previous night/days lineup.
Now i did start around 1 week into the season and it was easy to do once i caught up, now even if i miss a day here and there im only 2 games behind.
Im totally loving it, and i really feel like im "playing" this years game.
I guess you could change to hurry up baseball and try and catch up for the 2 months already played?
Good Luck broComment

Re: How do you play your franchise?
I play a 162 game season, but I don't play every game fully. If I am up by a lot of runs, or being beaten by a big margin, I will sim the rest of the game. I will also sim games here and there. It keeps the stats realistic and stops me from getting so bored as 162 games is a hell of a lot to play (although I have probably played about 500 full games on MLB the Show on my PSP over the past few years)Comment
