The game freezes very often for me, what can I do ?

Hey all,


The game freezes very often for me when I get into my bullpen. Basically, when I go to the bullpen screen either via the quick menu or the start menu, the game freezes once I hit the 'o' button and get back to the "start" screen. At that point, the game is frozen even though the picture in the background still moves. My controller doesn't respond, I can't do anything but quit the game. The Playstation button is the only one that does something at that point.

This problem happens to me once every 2 or 3 games, making the game unplayable for me. I have installed all the latest patches, and I am clueless about what can be done now. I know that doesn't happen to others as my friends don't have that problem, so I'm asking here for help.

If I uninstall every single data of the game from my PS3, then install it again, can it correct this bug ? If I don't delete the user saved files like franchise saves, profile and settings saves, will I be able to start back to where I was before unsintalling / reinstalling the game ?

I hope someone can help me.

For information, I customized players on my franchise file, and added Sounds of The Show. Can the problem come from my franchise save, can it come from a corrupted data in my roster or something like that ?

I think I'll start fresh, delete everything related to the game on my PS3, and start everything again. I hope that works cause I love this game when I don't have that problem. Since it seems others don't have the problem regularly, I guess it comes from something I've done...

As much as it sucks, I think that your best option would be to delete everything and start over.

For what its worth, I've had one freeze in about 100 games played in my Twins franchise. Keep in mind that I've not done anything in the way of modifications though. I'm using an SCEA roster, and I have not done anything with Sounds of the Show other than to load a few songs for bacckground music (no player specific stuff).

Whatever happened to the old "disc cleaning" method? It's the first thing i do if a game freezes on me. I'm not saying that's definately the cause but it's worth a go instead of deleting everything.

I don't think that can be the cause since the freeze happen in the same situation, just after I leave the bullpen screen. I haven't had any freeze when I was playing exhibition games before.

hen you say disc cleaning, is that just cleaning the disc with a soft tissue or something, or is there a cleaning thing built in the PS3 just like there is in some high-end digital camera ?

I don't think there's a cleaner in the PS3, hehe. Be pretty cool if there was. No, just a gentle wipe with a soft cloth. If it doesn't work then i'd stay do the first idea. If it does.....you just saved all your files from being wiped.

that used to happen to me all the time. I didnt clean anything i just stopped entering the bullpen menu from the pause screen. use the up button. it has never froze on me doing it that way

I just had this happen to me. Bottom of the 8th in a 6-6 game. I came up to bat and my pitcher was going to be 2nd so I went to warm a pitcher up, came back to the Pause screen and boom. Exactly as you describe. PO'ed I was. It's only the 4th or 5th game I've played so hopefully this isn't a pattern! I'll remember to not go there via the Pause screen anymore.
