Jonathan Toews Talks NHL 11, Mario Kart

Jon Robinson, over at ESPN Videogames had a chance to talk to the recently announced cover athlete for NHL 11, Jonathan Toews.

"NHL 11" marks the second straight year a Blackhawk has appeared on the cover of the game (Patrick Kane posed for "NHL 10" box), and Toews says it's finally time for payback for all the boasting he had to listen to from Kane about last year's game. "This year's game is bigger and better, so I finally have some bragging rights over him.

"I actually didn't expect to be on the cover at all, especially after Kane had it last year. This was totally unexpected, but it's such a cool opportunity, I'm really excited about it."

And one of the things that has Toews most excited is another season of first-person fighting in the game. "I basically just go after anyone who I think I can beat," Toews laughs. "Swing for the fences, that's my advice. No defense.

"It's awesome too, that this year they have broken sticks in the game. It's so frustrating when you break your stick for real, and it's going to be frustrating when that happens to you in the game, but that helps make it as realistic as it gets."

Awesome. I love that they've added broken sticks.

Come on - you really think they'll move away from that soon? They probably spent a decent chunk of change for that "fighting engine" that simulated what happens in a fight *soooooo well* (sarcasm should be noted).

The best option, in my opinion, is switching to a Blades of Steel type of fight, but update it for today. Change the angle, so you get some 3d. Add more jersey tugs and what not. Show the rest of the rink. And viola.

I cant wait for the first time I break a stick trying to rip one into an open net...

I am going to be so mad and so happy at the same time.

                Yep...this explains it pretty well.

I think broken sticks are a great addition to the game.
