What gives you the most trouble?
Which pitch do you have the most trouble laying off of? For me its the sinkers and change ups in the dirt. I swing at them ALL THE TIME! I have, however, gotten 100x better at hitting since I started my Road to the Show. I've drawn 12 walks for far this year in about 40 games. Pretty good for me.Tags: None -

By far its the curveball. Even when i'm looking for it and know in the back of my mind that its probably coming in low i STILL swing lol Coming in a very close second is the high fastball. -
Re: What gives you the most trouble?
For me it's the just above the strike zone fastball. Second would be the perfectly middle of the plate curveball that drops out of the strike zone. I used to swing at everything, no matter where it was pitched, but my eye has gotten a lot better on pitches that are off the plate. Just those balls over the plate are what keep me from drawing a realistic amount of walks.Comment

Re: What gives you the most trouble?
Curveballs with a huge break. I can recognize curveball, but the ones that have tons of break can still way hop up out of the pitcher's hand up. When this happens, I recognize curveball and think it's going to hang, so I swing... underestimating the break.
Changeups get me as well. I have problems getting in a groove against FB/CU pitchers. I'm constantly late on the fastballs because I'm waiting too long to recognize the pitch.RTTS: CL Antonio Ramos, drafted 1-4 by the Miami MarlinsComment

I always swing at curveballs in the dirt, especially with a 2 strikes count.ST. LOUIS RAMS FRANCHISE (MADDEN 2010)

Re: What gives you the most trouble?
It used to be the big curve in the dirt that would give me the most trouble. But my curve ball recognition has improved drastically. I'm almost to the point where I enjoy facing a guy with a big yakker... lol (Is it just me, or does that sound kind of dirty?) Unless the pitcher is dead on with his curve, I usually end up drawing a good amount of walks.
The pitches that I usually have the most trouble with are perfectly placed fastball, and circle change-ups that have a ton of break. Now, more than everComment

Re: What gives you the most trouble?
Me too. I just hate those pitchers. When that curve ball breaks so much, it is really hard to figure out where it will end up. Sometimes I even swing at a fastball above my head thinking it is a curveball with a huge break that will drop right into the zone for a home run.Curveballs with a huge break. Re: What gives you the most trouble?
I'm horrible at picking up the curve. I swing way too early. The times I do recognize curve out of the pitcher's hand, I'm usually committed to taking a strike so I end up not swinging.Comment

Re: What gives you the most trouble?
The more I play this game the more I realize how well it simulates real-life batting. I used to get so mad at the game because I would strike out but then I started to pay attention to how I was striking out. It was alway my fault. The game simulates batting so well. A pitcher will work you away, throw balls in the dirt, and then bust you in with a high fastball. They change your eye level, everything. I love facing a pitcher with a poor curve. There's nothing better than blasting a hanging curve about 450 feet. But man, when you face an ace, its a different story. I was batting I believe against Dan Haren and his curveball was sick. Very tight. Hard to hit.Comment

Re: What gives you the most trouble?
It's not even specific pitches, it's just specific locations.
Like when I see a pitch coming and it looks like it's gonna hit a bad zone for my batter, I lay off it and then it suddenly ends up in my players hot zone, or the other way around.Comment

Re: What gives you the most trouble?
Its an enjoyable challenge on H.O.F. but it is much more frustrating than it was on All-Star. Pretty much all of my hitters have had their avgs drop a solid 20pts since the move (I'm now probably 35-40 gms into H.O.F. difficulty - I am just getting to the end of July now)
My biggest problems now are strike zone discipline (especially up), FB/CU recognition (effecting my timing), dealing with the movement and change of speed on the breaking ball, and being "just off".
It's funny because when I first switched to H.O.F. I was still in a groove, but the past dozen games or so I haven't been able to find a consistently comfortable place. Like an earlier post said, they change pitch speeds, eye levels, in and out, to paraphrase Kevin Butler "It's just like being there".“I told him the next time he does that, I’m going to get my blade out and cut him, right on the field. Hey, I’m a gangsta now. You go gangsta on me, I’m gonna have to get you now.”

Re: What gives you the most trouble?
I learned (for the most part) to finally lay off:
The high 4 seamer that tails up and out of the zone
The change over the plate that drops out of the zone
I am a sucker for:
The 58 foot curve
Low slider that straight up makes me look the fool
I often find myself apologising to the hitter I made look silly with that low slider based punch out...
"It's not your fault, dude...that one's on me" kinda thing...
