I have never had a problem. They always have more on hand than were pre-ordered. Of course, be prepared to be treated like a second class citizen and the serious-tone "You really should have pre-ordered, you are lucky we have an extra we can sell you...otherwise you might have had to wait weeks. Be sure to pre-order with us next time" speech they always give me.

I wonder if that speech is corporate policy.

Walmart and every other store that sells games in packed with them as it is. Just go there if Gamestop gives you any hassle

My thoughts exactly, I would just say,"Well, if it's too much of a hassle I can just go somewhere else."

Then see if their tone changes.

You guys think they just say that, and maybe they do, but I can tell you that one year I went to Gamestop in Austin, TX without preordering and they had sold out. I did get it by driving to Walmart about 10 minutes away but yes they do sell out of games sometimes..

It probably depends where you live. I live in a pretty quiet area, not a big city or anything. I get that preorder speech everytime I get a new game. I have not once in the 15 or so years of buying games ever had a problem getting it there w/o a preorder on release day.
