Who else feels like their wont be any surprises when they open up ESPN

I dunno, I have over 25 movies of the game, I've read every article on it, but now I kind of regret it. I feel like the game wont have that "woah" factor of games you know nothing about. From this day on, I vow not to read a single thing about the game until after I play it.

You should try to refrain from the hype and media circus with 2k4 or you WILL be burned out on it before you even buy it. I have seen it happen and it has happened to me.

Someone, maybe BKrich had an eqaution that sums it up nicely I think:

E + H = D or something to that effect. It means expectations plus hype equals dissapointment.

I've been saying this about both games. Ppl are'nt doing anything but setting there self up for disappointment.
I keep hearing from 2K3 fans how VC is working hard and thier tryna please the customers yada, yada, yada. And come release day, you'll start seeing threads like "the game is too slow" or "glitch when you create a player" or field textures look like trash" or "Titans jerseys are incorrect" same ol, same ol. Dont get me wrong, I believe the game still will be fun, but ppl are gonna disect and over critize every aspect of the game from the repetitiive commetary to the lighting.

At least most Madden fans know what to expect come release day. The same game with some new features and updates. But it still will be complaints arising. Just not as much as ESPN.

I agree with you that we've been kinda spoiled with all of the movies and stuff. But you know that your gonna read more info/ watch another new movie before the game comes out. That's 2 months without ESPN info/movies. I would die if I did that.

I think there will still be surprises left. Most of them will be in-game surprises. Like post-game celebrations, an on-field Super Bowl Half-time Show with fireworks, a Gatorade dump at the end of a big game, maybe even a 'Music City Miracle' type of play. I honestly feel that no matter how much you read or how much you see, this game will still have surprises in it come September. Hopefully August! Ya listening Sega?

I loved 2k3. But they've supposedly tweaked the gameplay a fair amount. Even from watching the videos and reading interviews and info, I still don't know exactly how this game will play.

My opinion in analogy form:

Watching ESPN videos : Actually playing the game :: Watching porn : Actually having sex

Just because i've seen the videos, doesn't mean I don't want to play the game.

Nice analogy, I think it basically sums up my thoughts too. The videos are great to see, but as soon as I get my hands on the game that there will be enough WoW factor that it will completely out do the videos. Sure I won't be surprised at the gameplay modes and other stuff, but the gameplay I think will surprise me as I try not to believe the hype until I actually get my hands on the game, usually it seems if this isn't the attitude taken it will lead to a HUGE let down. Although I don't forsee 2k4 letting many people down.
