    International mode in 2K series

2K made a great job with Draft teams. But what about national teams. It will be nice to add international mode, where we can play most powerful national teams.
    USA
    Argentina
    Spain
    Greece
    Serbia
    Lithuania
    Germany
    Italy
    China
    Puerto Rico
    Australia
    Angola
    Brazil
    Croatia
    France
    Russia

Look forward to read your comments!!!

Re: International mode in 2K series

My personal opinion, which I also stated in another thread about the Euroleague, is that I really wouldn't want them to put effort into creating international teams just because it would probably mean they had to leave someting else NBA related out, like gameplay.

EA Sports has it because they are a more international company. They have the FIFA series and they focus more on international games than 2K does.

International FIBA things is mode than I think people would play once or twice and then go back to the NBA so the mode would probably get boring.
I own NBA Live 10 too, and I've tried the FIBA thing twice I think. It's not just that interesting.

Re: International mode in 2K series

I created a thread about this and although most people didn't seem to care about FIBA etc.. I think it would be addon.

Although it is a little more complex than we would imagine as FIBA rules and courts would have to be added so there is some effort that needs consideration.

Although I agree with you that EA's FIFA has more of an "International Flair" to it due to the nature of the sport but given the current socio-economic market which is largely influenced by globalization, it should be something that 2K needs to take into account.

The NBA is the Number 1 sports franchise in terms of global growth and marketing, football/soccer has always been the global sport but the NBA has mushroomed rapidly and as the NBA's vision of expanding globally they should consider FIBA (like they do with EA) in order to increase growth.

I know you personally dont care much about teams outside the NBA but the game itself sells extremely well internationally. If I remember correctly the older Madden games had some teams outside the NFL too?

It sells well internationally cause people care about the NBA. They make a great NBA game and there is where their focus should lie; to make the best NBA game possible which also appeals to people international.

I have nothing against adding FIBA teams, but I don't want them to spend 30% of the time producing an NBA game into trying to get accurate international teams. That means that some gameplay and NBA features are omitted.

              Thanks for comments guys
I understand that we all want best for NBA,NBA teams and NBA gameplay, but I think if 2K install only 5 or 6 national teams(not 16 as I mentioned before) it will be great!Imagine Rose vs Rubio,Gasol vs Nowitzki with new 2k gameplay. You guys mentioned FIBA rules, but who cares about that(mat a fact new FIBA 3-point 6,75 since october 1).All in all it`s all about 2k crew

Not saying I don't want it to be in the game (not to ruin it for others who want it), but I just don't care about it and won't play it even once.

I don't think they could since EA has the license. But maybe save this addition for later.
                  My Teams:
                  NCAA FB-Oregon Ducks
                  NCAA BB-Gonzaga Bulldogs

                  MLB-San Francisco Giants
                  NHL-Los Angeles Kings
Won't change this signature until Oregon wins a national championship (started 3/10/10)

Re: International mode in 2K series

I've always kind of wondered what kind of work would be involved with creating something like FIBA teams. As in, what percentage of total allotted work time on the entire 2K game would have to be devoted to creating FIBA clubs. I mean, would it be a huge undertaking? Or might it not just be adding some new uniforms and an international floor?

I've always had the feeling that there wasn't too much to adding them. Madden had NFL Euro clubs and NHL2K has had international teams (all NHL players on those clubs were present, otherwise players not in NHL had jumbled names and generic faces which were editable). Adding international teams always seemed like a small bit of work for the art and player research departments rather than being a giant company undertaking. I'd be curious to see as to what really goes into them.

They do have the license indeed ... so it would be kind of hard to go and compete with a bigger company in outbidding them to have a shared license for an option that may not be as enticing as the classic team option recently added ... even more, this option would help diferentiate both games and I believe that as of now (classic teams) it should be the approach that makes the fan attraction balance a little bit towards 2K ...

I prefer them to expand upon that recent option and also expand on the create a player/team options to let us address the fiba teams ourselves.

Re: International mode in 2K series

I have always enjoyed international play in NHL games, and have thought it would be great in basketball too.

Without the license you can't say "Fiba" or use the uniforms. But I think you can still create a light blue team called "Argentina", and put Ginobli and the other Argentines on it. Or at least give us team creating abilities to do it ourselves.

And yes, creating the Fiba Key, and programming the rebounding around that would probalby be difficult, but I think most of us would settle for the NBA key & style of play.

I think they would just need to add a generic international arena (like in the hockey game), and then allow for a custom "pool play" style tournament.

Re: International mode in 2K series

EA's NHL series has generic arenas, use flags for logos, and has generic uniforms. Every non-NHL player on those teams (or any player that doesn't play in one of the other included leagues) has a fake name. While they couldn't use authentic jerseys, etc. it would still be possible to have internationtal teams, not completely authentic, but with NBA players and stuff. So just do what the EA NHL games do.

Well,as I understand the situation,EA have license on FIBA teams, right?
I just want say that in my country(I live in Russia) 2K10 destroy live 2010.Everybody only say "hey I want 2k".I mean 2k have to look at international market seriously. And adding FIBA events will be huge plus.If you can`t fight for licence, well customize teams will be OK I think.Sorry guys, but I really don`t know the situation about 2K vs EA.Maybe 2K don`t want all this worldwide things...really don`t know

If licensing is an issue why cant they give us more options to add new teams and players?
Those of you who have ever played Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning11 know what I'm talking about, but if we can download rosters I am sure we can also add "Teams" and Players.
