This is why I love NCAA

Just finished the most incredible game I have ever played in any sports game, bar none. Big props to the XBL GT "archangelus2" for playing in this one.

I was in a ranked match with Iowa against his Texas A&M. The game was very tight and back-and-forth. We both played sim ball which made it very enjoyable. Just before halftime, I went up 14-7 but allowed him to make a quick drive down the field and get a FG before the quarter ended. I knew it would come back to bite me...

In the 2nd half the game continued very back-and-forth. He got up 17-14 and early in the 4th I was driving down the field. My drive stalls with a 4th & 7 from the 10, and I elect to kick it and tie it up. 17-17. He takes the ball and has some trouble. It takes a 4th down conversion for him to keep the drive alive. He has a 40 yard gainer to get him down to my 20. With just over a minute to go, he busts a run into the end zone to take the lead 24-17.

Ricky Stanzi then goes into overdrive working the no-huddle offense and pushing the ball down the field. We get inside the red zone as the clock continues to tick down and then with 0:11 on the clock, finally get in the end zone! ...Then it's decision time. 24-23 with the PAT coming up. What do I do? I keep the offense on the field. I throw a short pass to the TE, and it's swatted away.

Crushed, I select onside kick with eleven lonely seconds on the clock. Somehow, someway, I aim it just right... it bounces off a TAMU player's shins... and I dive onto it! With one timeout remaining I send the offense back onto the field, hoping to reach the TAMU 35 on one play.

Shotgun Empty Trips is the formation. Stick n Nod is the play. The TE breaking back over the middle is the pass. I hit him and he is tackled right away on the TAMU 39! With 0:04 left I call my final timeout down 24-23 and send out the kick team. Of course, he calls a timeout, and my kicker is iced.

Daniel Murray, my K, has a Kick Power of 93. This is a 56 yard field goal attempt with no wind and I'm iced. I line it up as best I can and say a silent prayer just before I fatefully pull back that right stick and flick it forward. The camera follows the ball floating in slow motion toward the goalpost. The landing recticle is behind the posts!!! I watch the ball flip end over end and think it has the distance!!!!! As it gets ever closer... and closer.... it doinks off of the top of the crossbar... but will it fall forward or backwards???? The ball falls inches short of the crossbar and lands harmlessly onto the end zone turf. TAMU 24, Iowa 23 final.

It's the things like these that make me love NCAA. This game got a greatness score of 1585, but I know it was the single greatest game I have played in my eight years of NCAA football, or any sports video game for that matter. Thank you EA and thank you archangelus2 for making this possible. Together you made this experience incredible. I will be talking about this game for a long, long time.

GREAT write up lol. You built it up as if you actually made the field goal. I don't think I would have been able to post about the game after coming up literally inches short of a remarkable win. I recently had an online 57-56 triple overtime win using Rutgers against Wisconsin. That was the highlight of my video gaming career. NCAA 11 is the best football game I have ever played, surpassing NFL 2K5.

Sounds like a great game. I had the same oppotunity once to win on a field goal this year. It was probably the worst game I've ever been a part of as I missed a 48 yd field goal to lose the game 6-5. So disappointing.

            lol

had me on pins and needles reading that

nothing better than a close, hard fought game.
When watching a real game, some people can't understand why I can be happy with a nail biter even if my team loses. It's the emotional ups and downs that make it great!

Wow! Sounds like a great game. The best football game that I have ever played was in my Madden 10 Online Franchise. Was playing the Broncos as the Saints (pre final roster update). Score was 42-35, I get the ball back with 1 minute left after he scores, march it down to the 5, then punch it in with Jelani Okoye to tie it at 42. Then I win the coin toss in OT, and Desean Jackson fumbles the kickoff he recoveres and sores the GW TD, and I lose 48-42. Best game I have ever played in any sports game was in The Show, playing as the Mariners against the Angels, online, game lasted 20 innings before I hit a walk off 2 run HR with Ichiro. To win the game 6-4.

Re: This is why I love NCAA

I had a game that was exceptional, I'm in an online dynasty with a few friends, for the most part we all took pretty even teams. I took bama and he took ou. We've played alot outside of the dynasty and I've never ever beaten hi, not coming close ever, usually losing by at least 17.

I was 2-0 headed into this match-up, and decided to adopt the bsu pro style offense, and a 4-2-5 defense.

game starts he defers and I take the ball and ride mark ingram down the field for a score, no real issue. his first series 3 and out. man this is easy. I drive down the field stall inside the 10 and kick a field goal. 10-0 after 1 man I am going to cruise to victory. next kickoff he he has a 4th and 2 on my 49, goes for it and gets a touchown, 10-7, uh oh now we've got a game. all of a sudden I can't move the ball, ingram has been stalled. He ends up scoring 28 unanswered points to go up 28-10 I get the ball with 5 minutes left in the 4th and it's time to throw. and I engineer a quick td drive. ok 28-16, what's the point in kicking a field goal? I go for 2. Got it:fistpump: ok 28-18, if I can play some defense I may actually have a chance here. I need a stop. he takes the kickoff and starts marching again I'm feverishly watching the clock and jamming lb on every play EUREKA! demarco murray puts one on the ground bama recovers. oh 3:48 left I need a score here, ok. 5 wr four verticals. I need yards and I need them in a hurry, so I drive down and score he gets the ball on the kick off with 2:40 left ok down 3, if I can get a 3 and out I will have plenty of time. PAssing? oh now this is personal. he drives and drives and I cannot stop him, everything he's doing is perfect against everything I'm doing. first and goal from my 8, swing pass to murray LB YES!!! the ball is on the ground I recover again. OK, so I've got 3 times outs and 92 yards t go for the score. ok well here we go, time to earn your ranking bama. ok, get 25 on the first play ok now we're out of the shadow of our endzone. things get a little stalled around midfield, go for it on 4th and short, convert. I end up with a 4th and 2 from the 33, my kicker isn't good and I'm at an angle I have 11 seconds left, ok I have to go for it. run a middle curl with my inside slot wr. he catches it! and gets to the 22 with 7 seconds left. I throw one to the endzone, trying for the win. incomplete. field gal time, he doesn't ice my freshman kicker and as time in regulation expires it squeaks inside the post. OH MY GOD!!!! I just came back from 18 down in the 4th to tie it as regulation expires.

I take the ball first in overtime and call a sweep for ingram to the strong side, he shifts everyone to that side, somehow I get past the line and I'm one on one with his safety put a spin move on and cruise into the endzon HOLY SH*T! extra point is good, I've just scored 25 unanswered points and he takes over. Ok so he can get 2 firsts and then he has no more firsts, ok I can do this. Don't fail me again 4-2-5, first play he rolls landry out throws it right to hightower and he drops it, NOOOOOO!!!! god dammit. ok regroup next play. landry drops back looks to broyles covered and comes back to his slot wr, throws it and doesn't see phelon jones standing in front of him OH MY GOD JONES WITH THE GAME SAVING INT IN OVERTIME!!!!

number 1 alabama goes into ou's house and takes away a sure win.

on a side note, after that pick I shouted wooooooo into the mic and he got furious for me rubbing it in. he was understandably butthurt.

easily the best moment in videos I've ever had. I love this game.

Haha, I was just coming on because I just had the most amazing finish EVER!

My University of Saskatchewan (2* created) vs USC. They are heavy favorites. But as the 4th comes to a close, the score is 21-20, but they have the ball. I manage a stop, but there are 4 seconds left. So the punt comes, and I know my only hope is a TD on the punt return. Suddenly, my PR sees daylight. He hits the hole, but he's caught from the side.. arrg! And the game is over. But wait! It's a facemask penalty! And because the game can't end on a defensive penalty, I get one more play. And now, thanks to the 15 yards from the penalty, I just need a 48 yard FG. I think you've guessed, my kicker just barely puts it over the crossbar against the wind, and I win 23-21 with 00:00 on the clock. AMAZING!
