All the more reason to get rid of this preseason minicamps/halfcamps/trainingcamps/van de camps....

Come in 2 weeks before the season, play some exhibitions, and get to the games that count

Exactly this is the smart thing to do to keep players healthy.

Training camp has been less than a week. If it started two weeks later you could easily have the same number of injuries, just closer to the regular season (less time to recover). You could even argue that we'd end up seeing more injuries bc the starters would be required to work more in the couple of preseason games... that and the beginning of the regular season would have some horrible football.

The preseason MAY be too long but lets not exaggerate here. Anything that happens within the first week of training camp can't be avoided no matter what changes are made besides changing the nature of the sport overall.

IDK why this isn't mentioned enough while the NFL seems hellbent on moving to a 18 game season and 2 game preseason.

The 4 game preseason was just fine. Yes people weren't interested in it, but it really wasn't for them. I always looked at Pre-season for teams to get players in game shape and look at all the new acquisitions for a team. So now instead of playing starters for one qtr for game 1, bout a half for game 2, bout 3 qtrs for game 3, then resting them for game 4. You're going to have rush everyone out in shape.

Also some players come into the season with nicks and bumps because of training camp...ugh I just wish the NFL would keep the 4 pre-season/16 game season in tact. Not broken, just fans impatient and besides they should charge less for preseason games obviously.

100% agree. The preseason went downhill when they started showing all the games and charging full price. I love watching but I'd rather not see a single game and have things stay the way they are.
