nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
in nba 2k11 when you dunk the rim should be breakway slam meaning when dunk the springs should bend like in real life and the way the ball hits off the backboard doesn't seem and feel realistic this needs to be improved. sound: when i shoot in nba 2k10 and hit the rim it sound like the rim is from the 60's also the rim the sounds make when dunking are very fake.Tags: None -
Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
In 2K10 the rim do "breakaway" it binds when you dunk, and I don't have a problem with the physics, but I hate the way the rim sounds when you dunk and brick, I don't like the way the rim looks either the color doesn't look right but idk that might just be me.Last edited by madden316; 08-03-2010, 06:20 PM.I hate when people say "LOL" Ok you was just about to say what I said, it might have been funny to you but I know it didn't make you "LAUGH OUT LOUD". IDK maybe Im just sick of people using it at the end of EVERY sentence. -
Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
Ball physics is actually quite realistic. That's something I'm very happy with. The rim also "bend" when dunk hard, which is also realistic. I guess, if they wanted to improve on it, they should make it bend from 3 angles, like it does nowadays.
The sounds of the of rim are also adequate, nothing to nitpick about. What we know so far about NBA 2K14 - FAQ/QA:

Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
I'm probably the only one, but I want some new net physics.
I'm tired of the nets looking and reacting like twine. Be awesome if there was some resistance to the ball on the softer shots, cuz shots from 3 feet away don't make the nets snap like they do in the game.
And I also wish the shots would play off the rim more on shots, a lot of shots catch the bottom of the back iron on the way in.Comment

Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
We've all got our nerd 2K detail tendencies so I guess dunking is mine. I feel the breakaway rims are getting better and better in 2K. Initially on next-gen, it really was tough to adjust to what looked like rims that hardly ever broke away, even on two-hand hangs from the front (very minimal bend). I still think they could bend just a little bit further to closer mimic real life.
I'm kind of bummed I forgot about this (I might have mentioned it in the wishlist in October) but I totally support introducing the rims that breakaway from three angles now (like Kyoto mentioned). That clearly won't make or break whether I buy the game, but I think that's a more than worthwhile improvement.
Finally, totally agree on the rim sounds. There's always other more "worthy" fixes that it feels like this is always pushed down the list. I've grown accustomed to the dirty clunk we get with each finish, but I'm still not a fan of it. Further, it seems 99% of the slams in 2K have that same clunking when in reality, there's definitely a fair share of "quiet" dunks - even when they're authoritative.
Quiet (except for Stacey King), no breakaway:

When the rim breaks away, the sound is often a lot more suppressed during a game. Even on the road, dunks are not usually super clanky loud. Here's an example using a Shaq dunk (which also illustrates how far the rim bends when it breaks away).

shot physics should be addressed too:

Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
I totally agree. The rim sounds are definitely weird sounding. The "other" game has a more realistic sound and it's better syncronised when it snaps back aftr a dunk......we held several meetings to discuss the future of the franchise. After going through those meetings, it became very clear that the vision I had for the game was different from where the leadership wanted to take it. I parted ways with EA shortly after...Comment

Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
While I definitely think the rim sounds are inaccurate I can't say I really care that much. It would be pretty nice to hear them revamped, but before this thread I never really payed much attention. I will agree that the ball isn't lively enough off of the rim at times though.Comment

Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
I would love the quiet dunks on smooth dunks. I find it kinda thrilling for someone to drive and smoothly dunk in one motion. It's clean and incisive with a nice clean soft-ish sound. In nba2k all the dunks sounds like they have been absolutely pummeled. Even sissy looking ones.Comment

Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
Agreed. It kind of always felt like the rim sounds were recorded in an empty gymnasium on a different type of rim than the NBA uses (strangely, there can be large differences in sound between breakaway rims) and with a hollow echo. Then, in turn, those sounds were transitioned directly to game scenarios, where they ended up sounding like loud empty gym dunks in a full arena, often overwhelming any other sounds in the game (even fans).I would love the quiet dunks on smooth dunks. Re: nba 2k11 needs new backboard and rim sounds and physics
I completely agree with you guys about the rims breaking away. I brought it up before and got shot down. I don't think that the rims break away enough. It always looks like Shaq is dunking the ball and the backboard comes down too.
Anybody else feel that the nets are too thin? I can't find the right word for it.. The nets seem to be I guess transparent?
