Re: When will we see Seattle back in the NBA?
when ever they get a new arena, the nba not going back until its bulit. i dont think they be like charllotte that played one season in the old arena till the new one was done. They most liekly have ground broken a new arena before the NBA gives them a team again.
Not the long ago some team of buyers wanted to buy the seattle center and build a new arena with a very small % of public $$$ and state folks said no... So maybe not until people with power in the city county and state change might be a better answer.
I am sure if this happens the league will open up another spot also most likely K.C. they have great arena with no team. So one in the east and one in the west. And that should be the end of any type of expanstion for like ever....
Watch this so you can really understand what I am talking about http://sonicsgate.org/movie/ .Last edited by hokupguy; 08-09-2010, 09:34 AM."Never say never, because limits are like fears and they are often just an illusion."-M.J. -

This is the answer.
Seattle had the oldest and smallest arena in the NBA when the Sonics left. It'll only get older and smaller compared to other arenas as time goes on.Comment

Re: When will we see Seattle back in the NBA?
I think the association is smart enough to see that 3 divisions per conference are pretty pointless.
So I see expansion of two teams coming in the next 5-10 years. Seattle will receive a team and some other city will too.
Then there will be two divisions in each conference.
The NBA's talent level has increased since a low point in the early 2000's. Opening up the game has allowed for more talented smaller players to play a more free game like they did in the 70's and 80's. The pace of games are increasing since the ugly mid-late 90's and 00's.
More talent overseas helps also. China, Africa and South America are newer untapped resources of talent that are just beginning to make their imprint on the league.
I think expansion is coming again soon. And it is a good thing.Comment
