2nd Patch Broke the CPU Running Game and the Sliders for it

Well I've come to the conclusion that the second patch has completely broken the cpu running game and it's mainly because it broke the cpu run block and human rush defense sliders. They simply don't work anymore. That's why I saw the cpu running game take a hit once the 2nd patch came out. Those two sliders do not work anymore.

I ask anyone to play a game on All American. Play against the cpu on AA and turn the cpu run block slider to 100 and then turn the human run defense slider to 0. I don't think it makes a difference. The cpu running game will suck just like on AA default. I even played a half a game on Heisman. I don't think those sliders work their either. CPU run block at 100 and human run defense on 0 and you would think the cpu would just be plowing through me. Nope.

The sliders are broken now in terms of the cpu running game. If they do work they are so watered down that it's ridiculous. I'm really disappointed. This is a game killer for me on AA. I'm going to have to make the jump to Heisman and see if I can tweak the game so it plays like AA. But I don't want to really deal with the garbage that comes with Heisman either. I hope I can fix this issue or the EA team can because this will ruin NCAA 11 for me. I'd love to hear any feedback on this as well. Tune those sliders to the max and watch the cpu running game go unchanged. I'm tired, disappointed and going to bed.

Forgive me but I actually haven't noticed this?

In fact, I just today lowered the human run blocking slider from 50 to 25 in the online dynasty of which I am a commissioner (in a response to everyone in the dynasty running for 300+ a game; we had previously been playing on default All-American), and the human running game was significantly affected; all of our RBs' averages were effectively cut in half against AI opponents.

Yep. I totally agree. After RB takes a handoff from QB, the offensive line lets go of every defensive player. Such a shame..

I think he was referring to CPU running game.

I could not disagree more. I agree Rush D doesn't do much of anything, but Run Block is very sensitive!

I will say that I do play on Heisman and honestly I haven't had issues with "cheating" or any type of BS. On any level you'll get the "psychic AI" here and there. I'll get it one play on Heisman then the next I'll run again and the next play I come out in 4-wide for a run and they're in dime. I had the same issue here and there on Varsity in regards to "psychic AI".

I had to drop CPU Run Block to 45 on Heisman because at 50 myself & KG noticed the CPU run game was too good.

This is the first year the CPU o-line with hold blocks instead of just pancaking your line. I love it. If you have good LB's and can shed blocks to get to the ball carrier you're going to do well.

Man I'm just really excited by what I experience. I definitely saw the issues on AA when I initially played that.

I have not played an option run team yet, I should've tested my sliders against GT but I will probably never play them so oh well.

Really? I don't see this at all. I've had the CPU get holes so huge on Heisman (I have a TERRIBLE d-line [C+]) and when I faced Cal they had 300 yards rushing on me.

Ah. I play on AA with Silent Nature's set of sliders, though. Never tried Heisman because I heard you feel "cheated." Maybe I should give it a try..

I just posted some today in the sliders section and you could give them a try. Trying them won't hurt anything and maybe you find you really enjoy them. You may find you hate them and that's cool too!

I'm just stating my experience and what I've observed. I still have a very positive outlook on the game because I play with people online who are a part of this site and play fair. I don't have to deal with the BS that those who play randoms come across.

I hate zone coverage...there I said something bad about NCAA '11!

i kinda agree with OT... imo Running game is worst after patch than before patch. CPU is having a harder time running the ball against me now.

Yeah, use Silent Nature's set of sliders as far as the running game go's.I use a threshold of 65 he uses 25,but not sure that matters though. You can't have the human run defense at 0 and CPU Run Blocking at 100 because the sliders won't work well that way. There is no way the CPU won't run well with these sliders.I used Clemson and played at Wisconsin and I had their Run Blocking on 100 and my Rush Defense on 30 as he does and Clay had 134 yards on 25 carries vs me for a 5.2 average.I probably will move to 90 as he has it since Clemson has a tough run defense and probably would give give up 100-120 yards vs Wisconsin.I'll play more games, but so far the running game is good for both.

I just played a game with Minnesota against USC last night. I took Minny and I put human rush defense at 0 and cpu run block at 100 and I was still stuffing USC in the backfield. John Clay is a beast in this game (when I have cpu RBA at 65) and he can have good games still. But play an average team with an average team and the cpu running game disappears.

But my major point is that those two sliders do not work or at least work horribly. I took Miami against Miami last night and in the second half switched to Heisman with cpu run block at 100 and human rush defense at 0 and I felt the cpu rushing attack was where it should be. With those settings my DL should get destroyed and yet they were still making plays in the backfield.

Please try this test, even if you are happy with the cpu running game. Play one game against anyone you want. First half - put cpu run block to 100 and human rush defense to 0. Second half - put cpu run block to 0 and human rush defense to 100 and see how much of a difference it makes. I'm going to do another extreme test this morning. Those changes should have a huge impact and yet they do virtually nothing imo. So this means you are either happy with the cpu running game or not and there is nothing you can do to change it if I'm right.

Re: 2nd Patch Broke the CPU Running Game and the Sliders for it

The CPU run game certainly seemed to take a hit after the patch. I think it is mainly due to the changes they made to pursuit in terms of making it more aggressive. It also seems like my d-linemen are breaking more blocks after the patch.

With that said I am not sure I agree that those two sliders don't still work well. At first when I downloaded the patch I noticed I was stuffing the CPU run with my prepatch sliders of CPU RB Ability at 60, CPU Run Block at 70 and Human Run Defense at 15. Last night I played a game against Georgia Tech and changed Human Run Defense to 10 and CPU Run Blocking to 75. They were able to run for 175 yards on 31 carries against me using Oregon. Their run blocking did seem to be much better and my guys weren't flying to the ball at ridiculous speed. This was on Varsity BTW.

I am going to play some games today with those sliders and see what happens.

Just played a 5 minute quarter game. NE vs. NE so we were on an even playing ground.

At default AA sliders the cpu ran pretty well on me, but I seemed to struggle a bit more than necessary. The cpu threw for just over 50%.

Now on the other hand, my starting qb Zac Lee, was 2-4 passing but got hurt. So my back up, Cody Greene comes in and goes 15-15.

This is what gets fuzzy for me, because in my single person OD, qb was a position where i really struggled. INTS galore, but was always around the 55% range.

I don't know what to think now?????

I don't know I don't have an issue with it. But then again I re-edited all the players in the game before the patches and tuner updates came out. So for me anyway the running game seems 10x better for the cpu.

I am using PM's sliders on Varsity and then running game is the same. Some games I can shut it down and some games the CPU will run like a good team should.. I have played 40 games since the patch and don't see the problem.. Have you tried PM sliders?
