Help with Fat Albert
I'm trying to get rid of him in my franchise. I can trade him for pretty good talent, which is great, but it always destroys my cap for the next season. I don't know what to do. How do I get him off my team?"I hope that someday we will be able to put way our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people." Jack HandyTags: None -

see, i wanted to do that, but i don't want to do an entire franchise like that. if i could do just year 1 with it, then it'd be good.
anyone know any tricks to dealing high priced guys?"I hope that someday we will be able to put way our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people." Jack HandyComment

Re: Help with Fat Albert
That's the beauty of it. It's just as hard in-game as IRL. The 'Skins were trying to move because and because of the no salary the could. So either have the salary cap on and keep him, or turn it off and trade/release him.Purdue Boilermakers

Re: Help with Fat Albert
2 things you can really do man.
1. Trade/Cut him ..BUT take that huge cap hit. OR
2. Keep him on your team for a couple of years then get rid of him, if you did not want that crazy hitPS3 Madden God.

Re: Help with Fat Albert
Resign him to a one year deal with no bonus. Granted, it will be a HUGE contract most likely but then you can trade or release him with no cap hit. You can also choose not to resign him at the end of your franchise.Comment

Re: Help with Fat Albert
I never thought of that. If I resign him to a huge contract with no bonus, then trade him, I'm not responsible for any of his deal? Hm.. I may do that. I really just want him out of DC. He'll probably stay in real life, but I hate the dude."I hope that someday we will be able to put way our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people." Jack HandyComment

Re: Help with Fat Albert
I moved him back to DT, but if your intent on dumping him, trade him away for a top notch FS, and a DE to replace him with a low contract's. In the offseason dump Carter and his 5mil a yr.. that will free up a little, and then rework any high value 1yr contract players to a lower deal... that should free up enough money to make a few moves.College Football

Re: Help with Fat Albert
I think it depends how you play. I'm a big stickler for 'realism' when I play franchise so for me the only real options are keeping him and maybe look to move him in a few years if you still don't want him or take the hit to cut or trade him. If you aren't too concerned about realism then the best bet would be what somebody already said, sign him to a big contract with no bonus and do what you want with him.Yeah.Comment

Re: Help with Fat Albert
When you resign a contract, the old cap hit stays. You can't re-negotiate your way out of a cap penalty. You'll take the same penalty if you released him, as I recall. IRL it works this way, and I think it's in MaddenComment

Re: Help with Fat Albert
If you are trying to get rid of him get as many picks as you can for him. I usually get rid of high cap players this way, but I wait till after the draft during pre-season so the cap hit will count till the next year.
I think a good trade for Albert would be a player and 2 draft picks. That way you can develop that player and the draft picks in 2-3 years, by that time the cap hit you took for Albert will mostly be gone and you can sign some good quality players with the nice cap room you are about to get back.Visit and register on our website.
