don't feel too bad about drafting A-pot mid80s late in the draft

so you just finished your draft and found one of your 6th or 7th round picks being some crazy gem of a pick, mid 80s A-potential player

don't feel too bad it happens irl too

    check out this article

How bad did NFL scouts miss the boat on rookie wide receiver Stephen Williams?

So bad that, according to former Cardinals linebacker/defensive end Bertrand Berry, every NFL team should have to forfeit a draft pick next year because of their stupidity.

"It's insane. It's an absolute crime," Berry said this week during a radio interview on KDUS-AM (1060).

Um, he had a couple of good preseason games...I'd hardly say that's enough info to annoint him as a future superstar. And Bertrand Berry isn't an NFL scout. He's a washed up scrub.

no you misunderstood my point entirely I simply meant even rl teams feel good about "late round steals"

or what they feel, are late round gems/diamonds

Brady, Hasselbeck and Houshmanzadeh were all later-round picks......

Yeah, I'm not sure I get the point of this. Why would anybody feel bad about lucking out with a late round pick unless they'd 'cheated'? And if they had 'cheated', they did it intentionally and aren't gonna feel bad about it.
          Yeah.

It isn't the mid-80s picks... it is the broken scouting that needs to be fixed.

some people think badly/dislike when their 6th round pick is higher/better than their 1st round pick

Just want to point out John Randle (HOF), Tom Brady, Pat Williams, Jeff Saturday, Donald Driver, Wes Welker, Tony Romo, Priest Holmes, Antonio Gates, Rod Smith, Kurt Warner, Warren Moon, etc, etc.

Craziness to feel bad about late round/undrafted players being good.

I get exactly what you mean, and I 100% agree, I also think the scouting could be better, but what r u gonna do, u jus go with what u got as far as tools go. Late round steals happen all the time in the league, and apparently in madden also.

The cowboys alone have three guys that were low or undrafted that turned out to be really really good,Tony romo(undrafted) Miles austin(undrafted) and jay ratliff (7th round).

How come no one has mentioned Marquis Colston yet he was a few picks away from mr. irrelivant.

I'd say it's because he isn't actually very good but he actually is very good.

Now, I'm an Eagle fan, but I like to think I'm more objective than a lot of other Birds fans. Couple questions:

                          A) Yes, regular season, Romo has shown he can hang with good teams. Outside one blowout victory in the wild card round (to an at that point imploded Eagle team)..What has he done to be "really really good"? I don't count Pro Bowls, as it's massively overrated (it USED to be a measurement of skill, now it's just a popularity contest)

                          B) Miles Austin. He had a breakout year, so to say. However, what indication is there that this isn't one of those players that has a good season or two and then goes back to mediocre-to-decent production? Nobody knows. I have heard of him since before last season, and I am aware he looked good. However, you saw Roy Williams first hand go from stud to absolute dud. It's a little early to crown him, IMO.

                          C) Jay Ratliff is awesome. Nuff said.

As far as Madden drafting goes, I hate getting gems because in real life coaches don't get to immediately go to player management and see that their 5th round RB is going to the Hall of Fame barring injury.

Its not hard to tell who the talented players are in t he later rounds just by looking at the "ratings pentagon" If they could just do away with that and give us the tendencies of the player e.g. scrambler, pocket, possession, speed, etc. that would be much better
