    Stadium realism: Attendance

Wondering about SCEA changing the attendance in many stadiums across the leauge.

I was playing a franchise with the Florida Marlins. It would be much more realistic if the stadium attendance reflected real life figures. I would like to see an empty stadium at Sun Life stadium to add to the games realism. But The MLB licensing lawyers would probably not want to have empty stadiums in the game.

ANy opinions on why SCEA doesnt display the realistic attendances for alot of low market teams in the leauge?

I saw a real game on TV in Tampa Bay and the attendance was 11,000 and change ! That was wild.

I could be wrong, but I think the last couple of years the Expos (remember them?) were in Montreal, they were lucky to draw HALF that.

It would be very frustrating to play in the world series and draw 10,000 fans, pretty much eliminating any hope of a substantial profit for the season.

As it should....the in game attendance is to reflect how YOUR franchise team is doing....and the draw of your opponent.
To mimic real life attendance would be a little bit of a let down if you took the Marlins to the W.S. and the draw was 15,000, don't you think?

              Re: Stadium realism: Attendance

In my D'backs franchise (57-38 1st in the division, the Dodgers are 3 GB), I usually draw 30.000+ fans.

For the "big market team", it is (nearly) sold out.
For the teams in PO race too.

As Knight said, it reflects how well (or bad) your franchise is going.

Like everyone else stated, the attendance in franchise mode reflects your team's performance.

I've had exhibition games online where the games were played in front of near empty ballparks in PIT, FLA & CLE to name a few. I remember one game playing at PNC, Athletics @ Pirates, and the attendance was around 10,000.
They did a great job with this as far as I'm concerned this year.

I would have to agree. I think attendance figures have been pretty accurate in my Jays franchise this year. I've had games with 13-14k attendance in April against low market teams like KC and Baltimore. I think the only thing that needs adjusting is were the fans are located. In the game, the seem to just disperse the fans evenly throughout the stadium, while in real life Rogers Centre has whole sections that are completely empty when the stadium is half full. As well, I'm right in the thick of the playoff race right now, and I think attendances should rise to reflect this late in the season when your fighting for a playoff spot, but they don't seem to. Just played a series against Seattle, who I was tied with for the wild card with 10 games to go, and was still only drawing 25k or so. These games should have been a near sellout given the implications.

I'm 6 games under .500 with the Astros right now. On an average game I draw about 20,000 fans per game. If the Cubs or Cards are in town, it's a sellout.

Playing with the Royals I went into Toronto and they drew 7500 one game. This was in April too. From everything I've seen the attendance is very realistic. Yanks or Sox come to town it's packed. A's or Indians not so much.

because its a fantasy representation of the sport. Attendance in the game is based on how well teams are doing within your particular franchise.

I just played in San Diego, who is struggling mightily in my season, and they only attracted 12,500 or so fans.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Maybe my problem is more of a fan placement issue rather than overall attendance. In MLB 10 the Show stadiums with 7000 people show fans scattered in equal intervals in the outfield and 2nd levels. In parks like PNC and Sun Life most fans sit as close as possible and the rest of the nosebleeds are all empty.

With a game this realistic an issue like this would add even more to the already immense realism of the gameplay.

In 2006 when the Marlins went to the World Series all playoff games were full attendance, but during the regular season they were lucky to draw 10-15k fans. I agree with you though SCEA trying to recreate many teams fan habits might get a little tedious but it would be a nice touch IMO.

Was your 2006 different than mine?

Anyways, it would be nice to see fans' tendencies recreated (the Rays struggling to draw half capacity; the Red Sox selling out despite having a tough year (of course, only if they struggle in game)).
