    NHL11 Impressions (Retail Version only)

I think we know the drill. Please DO NOT give impressions unless your status has been verified (posts will be deleted). Also, please DO NOT post a ton of questions unless those with the game explicitly state they are willing to answer questions.

Re: NHL11 Impressions (Retail Version only)

I'm going to do the usual, guys. I'm going to fire the game up, explore EVERY menu option there is lol, and then start playing some Exhibition games and fiddle around with BAP and BAGM. I'll be back in a little while with some impressions and posts about anything I find that might interest guys here. In between all this happy gaming, I'm sure my inbox will still be abused and violated with requests

Firing up in a sec, got a few last PM's to run through.

Can we please not fill this up with millions of, for the most part, useless questions. It will make it easier of a read for everyone.

      Please and Thank You!
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

I am making an additional sticky thread for questions, should the lucky ones choose to answer them.

One game down. So far, so great. Hitting has to get toned down a lot though. Slider guys will find a way.

Anyways, on to game two. FYI, I won't be doing any HUT impressions or online impressions. Strictly gameplay, presentation, graphics, BaP, BaGM.

Just gonna keep dropping in here as I come across things. Ill have a more fleshed out post with my impressions a little later. Quickly:

                - arena intros, though better, are still way behind what 2K10 brought to the table.

                - along with the hitting, seeing a few too many broken sticks. Probably amped up cuz its a new feature.

                - love the little addition under the score overlay, showing information and stats about the game.

                - played my second game as the Caps after using the Leafs and getting shutout. It was great to see Ovie be a force out on the ice. Definitely better seperation between top tier guys and average players, though it could still be better.

FYI, I'm playing on Allstar/Normal with tweaks to Penalties and Attribute Effect.

Re: NHL11 Impressions (Retail Version only)

I've mostly been dicking around updating rosters with recent moves thus far, the process is identical to the past few years.

One bad thing I've noticed while adjusting some equipment is that they have indeed taken out a few helmets. No more 4500's or 8k's, quite puzzling since a very large chunk of the league use these.

Simming through a BaGM and noticed Datsyuk on the block. Detroit wanted Defense for him so I traded Komisarek and Schenn for him and Detroit said "we're going to do this deal before you change your mind" lol.

FWIW, I tried trading Komisarek for Datsyuk straight up and got shut down! Should we be concerned that a) Datsyuk was on the block? b) that they accepted that trade? I know to the game, Datsyuk is just a bunch of code and not a name but I don't think he should be on the block, not yet anyway. And I don't think that's a GREAT trade to make. Not bad, but not great.

Bleh well thats not very encouraging to hear. That trade isn't totally horrid but not great either like you mention. Though the worst thing is Dats prolly realistically shouldn't have been on the trading block to start with.

sroz, with the Attribute Effect upped, did you notice if the CPU also had greater separation of player skills?

Put the game in, dropped game speed down to 0 and max out attribute slider!

Quick impression: With the attribute slider maxed, there is a definite difference between skilled players! Richards on the Flyers absolutely dangled my defense and barried top cheese on Giguere. It was beautiful!

Commentary is beautiful! I was carrying in puck in the neutral zone with Mike Brown on the Leafs and they compared the difference between him and a skilled player! They said something about "That's what you get with a lug-nut out there trying to score!"

I may need to bump up the Hitting Assistance slider, it is set to 1 on default sliders! The hip check animation is nice.

The puck seems very independent of the player even when in possession of the puck! I really like this.

                              More impressions later!
