    NHL 11 All Star Sliders

Hey guys. Been playing Be A GM for a week or two now, and this is the set I'm working on. I'm really putting them out to get feedback to ultimately make my game play better (selfish, I know), but some other folks might like them as is. DavePSU has always played w/ them a bit and has liked them so far so if anyone tries them out, let me know what you think.

If you go All Star, you'll want CPU Difficulty Adjustment at max. On Superstar, you'll want it a 0. These are pretty much made for All Star / CPU Difficulty max, but you could try the other option, although things like goalie reaction speed and what have you might need some tuning.

I'm going for sim style here, and the main problem I've had is that I pretty much outshoot the CPU heavily most games, and low scoring games seem a bit too rare. Again, looking for feedback here to improve my experience as well as anyone else who uses these, so please contribute your thoughts.

I don't have the game yet, but last year the two changes I made which led to a more competitive game were upping the CPU puck control and lower the human poke effectiveness. These two things helped the CPU retain the puck more and therefore get more shots on net.

    Just a recommendation.

I'll have to try these out. One thing I noticed, is if you increase the CPU aggression, they shoot more as well.

How are you penalties? With what I'm using right now, I have yet to see more than 1 penalty per team per game.

Also, why would you have the CPU Diff Adj at MAX for All Star? With it maxed, isn't that what gives the CPU the "speed boosts"?

Re: NHL 11 All Star Sliders

I have played this for about a week as well, and my issue is too many goals for and too few shots. for example I will play a game and I will score say 5 goals on 23 shots and the cpu will get 3 on 15. I figured this would just be a few games like this, but after 6 games my goalie is seeing an average of 14 shots a game. Every now and again I will get a game where i see maybe 25 shots. Does anyone know what sliders effect what aspect of the game. I am playing on Superstar only because All Star seems too easy. I have been trying similar sliders as the OP has but still no luck.

I played a game with these. Colorado (Me) vs New York. I won 4-3 in OT. Was down 3-1 in 3rd period though.

I have only played 4 games with these sliders. But I am not seeing anywhere near enough shots. Teams are getting about 10-13 shots every game. I am going to give it a few more games and then see if I can tweak it.

Definitely increase your period minutes. I think 8 - 10 mins will do. Something I remember from NHL 10 is that the Pass Accuracy slider affects shot totals as well. A hunch of mine is to raise the Pass accuracy slider to 4 or 5 for the CPU, but also lower the pass retention.

Maybe a tuner will come out causing the CPU to pass less and shoot more on open shots. I see too many open shots that turn into passes.

              BOA:

What sliders are you using? Your Time of Attack is pretty even. When I play, I'm dominating the CPU in that area as well.

Yeah, you gotta play at least 8 minutes or so to get realistic shot numbers w/ such slow game speed.

No problem! I'll be trying to tweak them a little more soon.

                    WOW nevermind.

I was wayyy to intoxicated and thought I was replying to someone else's tunerset.

                    Gonna try these now!

I used this one with a few changes but it didn't work out for me. The shots were like 15-20 lower than they are in normal hockey games and there were barely any goals.

Attack time wasn't that great either.

                        Hi LuGer!

I've played some games with your sliders and they feel pretty good. I've used these in Play Now mode and I know that you've made these for BAGM mode. I've actually used first tuner set because I've felt that it's still the best one released. I will play games also in the future using latest tuner set to see if they could offer something better. May I ask what set was the latest when you created these sliders?

What got me interested of your sliders was firstly gamespeed. It was great to see that someone had created slider set using gamespeed at zero. When I've been playing earlier EA's and 2K's games I've often used slower gamespeed settings because usually they offer for example better control over your players. This year also it seems that players are too quick on their turns and moves when using higher gamespeed. Sure gamespeed at zero will make some situations unrealisticly slow but at the same time it offers some really cool and may I say "realistic" things too. Here's some that I noticed when playing with your set:

                        - Easier to control your player. Makes playing positional D so much easier.
                        - It feels like there's more weight on skating. Turning feels more natural.
                        - More chaotic but balanced battles in front of the net and in the corners. Why? Because players now can't escape from the battles that quickly.

Sure I would want to see more faster gameplay with those things that I listed but I think that we can't take them both. It's always been like that.

Anyway. Good set! Have you tried making some sliders for Pro difficulty also? I've played with pro difficulty too and noticed that sometimes it feels better than Allstar difficulty. Atleast there's not that much tap-tap-tap-tap-tap passing that I've seen when using Allstar difficulty. When using Pro it's like cpu doesn't want to force it's plays to create good scoring chances but they just take what they can at that point. Feels more equal and more human-like at some situations.
