The "Ill"-est...A Fighting Illini Dynasty (NCAA 2011)

    A Fighting Illini Dynasty

    Introduction:
I usually just play NCAA or Madden for fun but I wanted to post about my Dynasty on here so I can keep track of my progress better (and hopefully entertain a few people along the way). I'm just doing this for fun so it won't be super technical or anything just a nice and basic.

I chose to roll with Illinois because i wanted to play with a not-so-good program(sorry illini fans) in a good conference. This will give me a good challenge while trying to climb the ranks of the College Football world.

Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I will. Any feedback, negative or positive is more then welcome

                2011 Season Preview

After a disappointing 2009 season in which they finished 3-9, Illinois looks to bounce back and contend for a Big Ten Title. Its not going to be an easy task considering they are rated as a C+ overall which is the lowest in the Conference. With the likes of OSU, Penn State, and Wisconsin leading the pack, the task will not be easy. Through Recruiting I hope to build Illinois into an NCAA powerhouse and even contend for a BCS National Championship.

                Players to Watch

                QB #2 Nathan Scheelhaase
The Redshirt Freshman must have a good year to insure Illinois a winning record. With no real experience at QB he has too keep his cool throughout the year.

                MLB #38-Ian Thomas
Ian is going to have to be the anchor of this defense. They aren't very strong in the DB category so they will have to rely on the pass rush to distrupt the opponents QB. In 2009, he had 95 tackles, and 1 sack. The coaches and fans are hoping he will improve upon that performance.

Looks like the rosters you have though aren't very well updated. Charest, Aikens, Edwards, and Hopkins are long gone, and McGee plays WR, to name a few issues. Looks like a renamed default roster.

I had an Illinois dynasty that I posted for last year's NCAA game. I think the link is still in my sig. Definitely a fun team to play with and tough to get over the top in the Big Ten. Good luck!

A Well Fought Game Ends in Loss
The 2011 Season kicked off with a raining game in Missouri. Illinois was the underdog so they had to come out with all cylinders firing. The young Illinois players were feeling the pressure from the sold out stadium and had to punt on their first drive. The Defense must have felt the same pressure giving up a 53-yard pass play to Rolandis Woodland on Missouri's first play from scrimmage. They scored the first TD of the season 2 plays later(7-0).

The 2nd quarter wasn't much better as it started off with a 50-yard run by the Tigers' Halfback Derrick Washington(14-0). Illinois' defense couldnt stop anything and they offense couldnt convert and 3rd downs.

Then with 5:00 left in the 2nd while Illinois was driving, Scheelhaase threw a terrible pass that was intercepted. During the return Davis stripped the CB cause a fumble that was returned for a TD by AJ Jenkins. It was a bizzare way to score this Dynasties first Touchdown (14-7). But not even that could give the Illini any momentum. The Defense was getting torched by Rolandis Woodland for 192 yards and a TD in the 1st half alone (24-7).

The 2nd half started out with the D holding mizzou to a 3 and out but thats where the fun ended. The defense continued to struggle and the offense could run, pass, or do anything. Illinois did manage to score a FG at the end of the 3rd. The Defense once again held Mizzou to a 3-and-out which had them backed up at their own 6. Illinois got great field position and scored on a 12 yard TD Run by LeShoure(31-17).

Things were looking up when with 6:53 left in the 4th, Jarred Fayson coughed up a punt and it was returned for a TD, basically ending any hope of a comeback(38-17). Illinois did score a pity Touchdown with 2:00 left in the 4th. Scheelhaase made a great pass over the middle to Jenkins for 11 yards(38-24).

Now with only :30 left the CPU decides to throw on a 3rd down attempt and what do you know? Illinois picks it off and returns it for a TD(38-31). The ensuing Onside kick was recovered by the Tigers and a few kneel downs later ended the game.
