    Punt Returns

Couldnt return to save my life, but with patch 3 out I started a dynasty with the Canes and returned 2 against fcs west, 1 against North Carolina, and 1 against Georgia Tech. Ran one back against maryland but it got called back for clipping. Im avg. like 25 yards a return, playing on all american using some sliders from the slider forum, have too look and see which ones. Anyone else returning punts?

Yeah it's been working for me too. You have to find a cut-back lane, kinda like... real life lol. I got 2 punt return TDs in one game. Even though it was against an FCS school.

I mean this might be considered cheesing the computer but I'll select all out block but the one that has the first 4-5 guys blocking then the rest man coverage, grab one of my blockers in the middle and drop him all the way back by my returner and once the ball is punted switch to the returner and not sprint till needed. Makes up for the blockers jumping at the line when they shouldnt.

mine too, plus I have a guy back there that muffs at least 1 punt a game. Straight drops it, hasnt cost me a turnover yet, but im sure it will. Kid is a 99 return rating and has a catch rating in the low 90s. Anybody else experiencing this

the only time I have returned a punt for a TD is when I break 4 tackles right upon catching the ball. I dont even get a chance to cutback.

I play on Heisman, not sure if it makes a difference. Where I have the most success but never a TD is if I just play a Prevent D and drop back one of the Safeties to return it, I normally get like 10-15 yards doing that. Its super cheese though, so I dont do it anymore.

I've found that if you move the stick ever so slightly while controlling the returner on a punt before the ball arrives, it causes a muffed punt.. Now, I may just be seeing/feeling this thing, but that's pretty realistic to me. Jump the gun on returning and you risk losing concentration and not fielding the ball properly.

My average return is about -2. The problem is that 95% of the time you only have 2 blockers near you once you field it. Once (or if) they block somebody theres nobody left to take the rest of the coverage team.

It's hard to find a cutback lane when the defense is there before you can even catch the ball. You need to turn CPU Punt Power to over 70 just to get some decent return room.

                      Thanks

that might be the problem, I do it on kicks with no problems, maybe they made it happen on punts though. Sometimes I do try to move early.

I have subbed out my outside guys on PR, and front return line on KO returns and seen a huge difference. I actually look forward to them now. The computer loves to have in guys with 40 for run block and all though the substitutions are limited you can usually find a guy in the 50's, which seems to make a huge difference.

On PR I just use return middle everytime. As long as the outside guys pick up the initial gunners (which they do 90% of the time) I'm good to pick a direction and then try a cutback.

I'm in week 4 of a dynasty with 8 users and we have zero punt returns for TD. It seems broken to me. We need special teams sliders if they don't plan to fix it. Then we could adjust blocking and get it how we want it.

                            Re: Punt Returns

This season I actually returned a punt for a TD and I was completely shocked. This is my 6th season and in my 1st 5 seasons I returned 1 kickoff for a TD and 0 punts. This season with my 98 SPD/AGI/ACC guy in 3 consecutive games he returned a kickoff, a kickoff, and then a punt for TDs. The punt was a return middle (which is what I always call). I caught the ball and broke left to get outside the gunners and then cut back to the right across the field and went untouched for a TD. That's always my plan, but that's the only time it's ever worked.

These are my career punt return stats :
