    Franchise in Madden 12

dont give me the there's a thousand threads out there like this kind of stuff, im just trying to get an idea out and see if it can gain some steam and MAYBE someone at ea will listen.

Other than transaction logic, the biggest thing wrong with franchise mode is that it lacks the feeling that you are in a LEAGUE. Thats what makes the NFL so exciting, is all the stuff that happens all over the league. The reason why franchise is so boring and repetitive is because all you do is focus on your team.

There needs to be some franchise specific presentation, like better score updates from other games and more often. More hype on Playoff races and close divisional matchups

Some sort of news thing in the offseason so you can see what all the teams are doing and other big story lines. More hype around star draft picks leading up to the draft.. pretty much a HC09 offseason

When you're not playing there needs to be a radio show, what would be best is a cross of the Tony Bruno Show and Head Coach 09, have a radio host talk about things like fan reactions to the teams 0-8 start or something. then have Adam Schefter pop in and tell breaking news like he did in HC09

Theres plenty more things, but the point is that in order for Franchise mode to be a success they need to make it feel like we are playing as a team in a Football League, not just managing a football team.

    My Two Cents:
    You are 100% correct!
If Madden 12 would mplement all of the little things from Head Coach '09 that made it so deep and immersive, the Madden disc would probably never leave most of our consoles!
They have the NFL network, they have "NFL Football" on Thursday, Sunday, Monday nights, etc. Although Adam Schefter now works for ESPN, (oops they have that license too)...I don't know why they don't use the tools they already have access to to make the game more complete.
The best draft presentatiion I can ever recall was on the original Head Coach for PS-2. They had Mel Kiper giving out player analysis, stats, and bios, (school, accurate weight, height, etc.) as picks were being made! It was almost like watching real draft coverage. HC '09's inclusion of Adam Schefter and Todd McShane leading up to and during the draft, was also brilliant. The "extra point" is very nice, but like you mentioned the "Tony Bruno" show, or go for broke and get "The Jim Rome Show"; now that's presentation!
Don't get me wrong, everything they did/are doing to improve the gameplay, graphics, etc. was needed, but now we want more! 70+ player rosters, IR that is done correctly, cut days accurate to NFL schedules, the ability to turn on & off Salary cap (if CBA is not resolved), the option to go to 18 game schedules, the option to create new uniforms, new stadiums and/or move a franchise, while keeping accurate team insignia, logos, etc. would be icing on the cake!
And for the love of Pete put some "generic" tattoos back in the game (like their are/were) on the PS-2 version!
When I play Madden NFL football, I want to see the NFL!
I really don't think we're asking that much, and we've been VERY PATIENT!!!

As far as i know 70% people play either online or offline franchise mode , if they said otherwise they are absolutely lying. SMH
      NBA: Miami Heat
      NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
      MLB: New York Mets

Why not do what The Show did----- user created injuries. That way we can emulate real life even better.

I bet ALOT more people use offline franchise than Superstar mode! what a waste of space!

I think franchise mode could be vastly improved if they implemented very basic things that we've have in various sport's franchise modes for the last 10-15 years.

Examples of little things that would enhance franchise mode:
          * players becoming unsettled at lack of playing time which effects their and possibly team morale if they start moaning to the press etc.....
          * basic press interviews after games where the answers you give have different effects. ie - they ask about a certain players performance who may have played poorly and you criticise him he/or team mates could lash back, or the player could accept the criticism. Or if you gave him positive feedback it could set the fans/press against you saying you are too soft etc.....
          * top players getting unhappy if you select a player in their position with a high draft pick
          * players requesting trades (see the Denver situation with Cutler, Marshall etc.....)
          * players holding out for better contracts
          * players unhappy with the style the team plays in or the role they are given
          * teams requesting trades
          * being able to put players in certain formations like we used to be able to
          * Getting sacked
          * Performances effecting ticket sales which in turn actually effects team budget
          * fan popularity ratings....

Things like player morale and the effects have been in games for years going back to last generation.......why cant we have these?

I like these ideas, and would take it a step farther. Since in 2010 (and surely 2011), everything is so technology based, I think it would be cool if they found a way to implement franchise mode and have it somehow interact with your phone, Twitter feed or Facebook page.

Meaning, it's the off-season in your franchise mode, but in real life you're out of the house on a Saturday afternoon in the mall, and all the sudden you get a text from your team President informing you that your star player plans to hold out for the season.

Or you sign onto your email at home and waiting in your inbox is the first contract offer from an agent representing your #1 pick. Or on your Twitter feed, it gives you updates on player injuries and signings around the league. You'd still have to fire up the Xbox or PS3 to make moves within your game, but it could be a fun way to make franchise mode feel like a living, breathing league--even when you've shut down the console.

Therefore they didn't blow out that feature with inhancements because no on really plays it....which sucks for those who play offline and online Dynasties. So I wouldn't expect anything different in the Franchise department in the future.
Maybe more people would play if it was better--not collecting dust like it has for the last 5 years.....just a thought.

My take is that's a convenient excuse for simply not having done much with it and awfully short-sighted on their part if true.

Anecdotally via polls around here, more people play that mode than not. But even this site aside, think about the fact that on this gen's consoles, the tourney-crowd is who this game was made for to begin with (with the exception of the last two years it would seem). That combined with a bare-bones mode to begin with probably contributes to their perception.

I submit that if they spruce it up, they would see that perception change. In any event, they've already publicly announced that will be more of a emphasis going forward, so we'll see how that plays out.

perfect example of EA just tripping:

I'm reading a certain video game magazine(don't know if I can name drop it here),and Ian Cummings says they didn't touch online/offline franchise because:
1)nobody really touched online franchise last year
2)people don't play multiple seasons of offline franchise, very few people actually do.
This was based off stats....I'm laughing..wondering who did they "poll" or what "telemetry" they used.
The reason(s) nobody touched online franchise were manyhere's a few)
-no salary cap/or option to turn it on/off
                  -no free agent system
                  -no extra point/highlights
once you ran into these things, the mode was broken and useless
the reasons "few people" play multiple seasons in offline franchise:
-no highlight show/highlight commentary(half done extra point)
-no ability to change teams after a season
-nfl draft and player scouting very dry and boring
-just basically, cause I can go on and on,no replayability

so who do they get their info from? i know alot of community people can be harsh and livid but i'm sure there are tons of Madden gamers who will back me up on what I just said. I would much rather play a solid, fun offline franchise over multiple seasons that is fun and replayable than to go online and get cheesed or play OTP.I'd be hyped to grab a bunch of friends and fight to win Super Bowls with a great online franchise just like I do with NCAA Football's online dynasty. I'm pretty sure there are hardcore ranked guys who would never touch offline franchise but the franchise lovers should matter, their voices should also be heard. And instead of EA brushing us aside with excuses and telling us to wait till next year, they should make a honest effort to appeal to us,just like they did the "casual gamer" this year.

Wow...is he crazy? There's a whole section in the forum just for franchise. I would love to know how EA came to that conclusion
