Does HOF level mean the game play more like the NBA?

I really don't understandt his level thing, I mean, playing with a good team against a bad team you have higher chance of winning, playing with a badteam against a good team, you have higher chance of losing, so does the higher difficulty setting screws up the game? For instance, if I use RAPTORS and play LAKERS and its at PRO, then I have higher chance of winning? If I play at HOF, I almost have ZERO chance of winning? On the other hand, if I use CELTICS, and play WOLVES on PRO, then the chance of winning is really really high eh, but if its on HOF, then even I am using a STRONG TEAM, I might not win because the CPU will cheat at HOF just to make everything MORE CHALLENGING, in a LESS REALISTIC WAY, so help me out guys, I am just so confused about all these setting things all of a sudden~

Difficulties just change your chances of hitting shots.

That is not true at all. Granted, I almost always play on pro (cause it's challenging enough :o) but that's not all difficulties does.
Someone who has more in-depth knowledge should really answer this but my view on difficulties is that the higher the difficulty, the smarter the AI will play.
The CPU will set up more offensive plays, react smarter on double-teams, react smarter on defense.

But does CPU play smarter than the USER can handle MEANS they are cheating and doing stuff unrealisticly? I really want an answer from some devs here...

Don't think a dev will answer you but, hopefully, Da Czar, or someone else who has more in-depth knowledge of how the the difficulties work will answer.

Have a look at the Bulls vs Magic HOF/Simulation thread and video. There you'll get a bit of a grasp of how the CPU plays on HOF. Ideally, the higher the difficulty the higher the intelligence of the CPU. In previous year it's meant some cheating by the CPU but this year it looks like it's more an intelligence matter than anything else.

That's my point of view, hope it helps a little. Hope Da Czar could shed some light on this for the both of us.

I like that comparsion you used 2k 10 vs 2k 11, I m not saying 2k 11 is cheating if played at HOF, becasue I dont have the game yet, but 2k 10 was really unplayable, all those bullet passes to the paint makes me throw the controller away, but this year, I STILL HAVE NOT SEEN ONE BULLET PASS TO THE GUY INSIDE THE PAINT YET, so hopefully HOF does mean AI will play smart, IN A FAIR WAY????!!???

IMO, the CPU cheats on HoF. A lot of unrealistic shots will go in.

The main thing the difficulties do (which DOES qualify as CPU cheating) is the CPU will recover faster to prevent fastbreaks, while you will not be able to do the same to them.

So the CPU will get some easy points on fastbreaks, get players hot because of them, and then that helps them in the half-court, while you most likely won't have that same luxury.

I'm talking about 2K10 btw. But that's probably in 2K11 too, as it was in all prior 2K's and is a staple of their "difficulty level"

HOF makes the AI do very unrealistic things. It flat-out bends the laws of the game to pull out the W.

Yea what Rashidi and others said. Also, each rating gets cranked up a lot so thats why u see the unrealistic recovery speed and the Ilgauskuses keeping up with the fast guards when defending them. I was hoping that would change but I bet it didnt.

Re: Does HOF level mean the game play more like the NBA?

Playing HoF with Sim sliders in 2k9 I really don't feel like the AI is cheating to get the victory.

What it does is being more aggressive in taking its chances, sometimes that leads to a momentum shift in its favor and that again leads to the AI connecting on more difficult shots. But that isn't even the general rule.

Sometimes it seems that the other team has a really good day and makes even hard shots all game long, ending up with a FG% of well above 50, but that doesn't happen too often either and pretty much balances out over the course of a season.

Sometimes it gets a bit overly aggressive in trying to go to the basket, and even continues to dribble towards it even if you successfully blocked the ball handler's path. That can feel a bit glitchy but can dealt with by reducing the 'drive to the basket' tendency slider.

Overall I never felt like the AI just cheaply raised its shooting % or anything since I switched to HoF. Have been playing like that for about a year now.
I should say that I toned down some of the tendency sliders (take 2pts, take 3pts, drive to the hoop) to around 40. The 'flashy passes tendency' is even set to 5 for the AI, Alley Oops just get too ridiculous otherwise.

Nope, HOF level is just another name for Rookie mode for CPU. Its like the CPU is playing on the Rookie difficulty, and its like unstoppable, but if u play enough, you will start to win some games.

What are you guys talking about?....I never heard of this HOF has a 10% chance of winning...lol It just makes the CPU harder to play. I've blown out by CPU. Got my *** handed to me, I've had comes backs fro both sides and all kinds of other types of games. And I win most of my games on HOF (actually only play on it as well).

HOF is a stupid way for people to stick their chest out and say "I PLAY ON HOF LEVEL ONLY". The crap about playing on HOF is that it feels so unatural and it cheats at times. Real vets who play these games know how this works....

Yes...it does feel like HOF level cheats a bit and allows the CPU to do some things that the user can't do. i don't think this is how it should work. instead HOF should just cause the CPU to make smarter decisions...HOF level should not increase the CPU's ratings and allow the CPU to make crazy shots...that is the cheap way to handle it.

I actually don't think there should be difficulty levels....they should just have "game styles" and that's it. There should only be "realistic" (sim) or "arcade" (casual)...(and maybe one in the middle)...but all these in between settings and combinations of different difficulties with different game styles seems like overkill.
