Questions about Live 10, related to Elite's delay

First, I think EA is doing the right thing in delaying Elite 11. It clearly wasn't ready. I think the extra time will be good and if they just wind up going straight to Elite 12 with this thing, that's OK with me.

Peter Moore did say that they will be doing Dynamic DNA updates for the upcoming NBA season with Live 10. My question is, if you buy a used copy of Live 10, will you still have to pay for the DNA Code? I deleted all of my Live 10 save files a few months ago when I traded the game in ... is there a way that if I do buy a used copy that I can still get the free updates by tracking the code with my GT?

And, I didn't see any mention about the schedule ... will Live 10 update to the 2010-11 schedule as well? When they mention roster updates, I'm assuming that the rosters will be what the teams have going into training camp?

Live 10 was a fun game; I wouldn't mind picking it back up and giving it some time in the 360 again.

IMO it doesnt matter if the game is going to play the same post patch.

Especially if they dont fix those ratings and those dna ratings, its still going to be the same game.

Since the detail aspect of games seem widely ignored here, I doubt its ever done.

We would all be guessing at this point. I also believe it is possible that EA hasn't made all those final call at this point. I bet it's at least 2 or 3 weeks before we get any real confirmation on anything other than the roster updates.

I bought a used copy yesterday...couldn't download anything dynamic without a code.

I tried entering the code in the used game box and the message said that code expired or used already.

The only option then is to pay $14.99 for dynamic DNA. That in addition to the $27 price tag means I'll be returning the game on Monday. $42 is too much for last year's game.

This is a bad move by EA. Everyone is anticipating a new basketball game by October 5th. Their announcement of updating Live 10 drew cheers from Live 10 fans especially with the prospect of them saving $60 this year from buying a new game. Now, if they make these same players wait, they probably won't. The hype of 2K11 will get them and they will buy the game. If EA released the updates early, then these same people would be home playing Live 10 with the new rosters while everyone is lining up for 2K11. EA is going to lose a lot more followers because of this.

Also, they haven't released any details, which makes people more anxious. Are we just getting roster updates? Are there other patches? Schedule/calendar updates? Etc.

I think any update for live 10 is good.I really enjoy this game,so if they give us just a little bit more then we are expecting its a win win situation for me.EA atleast give us the real rookies and better ratings across the board and I'm good to go.

Refresh my memory.

I seem to recall loving the gameplay on release, and not so much once the final patch went through.

I know they needed to patch some important items, but the gameplay didn't seem to be as sweet.

My memory is fuzzy. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You're right

Before the patch there was some update, and if you remember I posted a pic of an alien looking player... Derrick Byars of the Chicago Bulls looked exactly like a fetus sliding up and down the court, playing defense and shooting although he was nothing but a blob of legs and a jersey.

This lasted until the patch came out where some animatons either stopped working or were taken out. Not only that but it messed up the CPUs offense which is why now you see them come down and take a shot after 1 pass if that almost everytime up the floor.

Then it added the goaltending bug where if you got blocked but still made the dunk, it would take the points away. If you won a game by 2, you'd go to overtime.

If you passed cross court, they'd catch the ball The Matrix style in extra slo motion,same for lobs.... they would go slllloooooooowwww for no reason.

Thats where all the extra sliding and warping kicked in which pretty much finished the game off as far as being enjoyable. Dynamic season was messed up all season long, so other than that it had little redeeming qualities to play SP.

The 2nd patch came out to fix the goaltending bug but the rest of the game remain unchanged.

Oh, there is also where guys are missing dunks for no real reason at all, even on wide open lanes.

Also replays froze the game up on you, so you have to turn replays off if you want to get through a game. Freezing, imagine that......same as the ncaa bball game.

I tried to edit the entire game to try to fix some of the issues with the ai and players themselves... such as I got them to pass the ball more than 1 time before a shot most of the time, but even with tweaked everything the game was still generic. It was fun for awhile

Sad end to a game brimming with potential.

With the game in it's final "patched up" state I can see how it would have been an easy choice for the developers to change direction. (however ill-fated that has turned out to be)

Derrick the alien was definitely a fond highlight. He had game.

Is the patch mandatory? Surely you can decline the update?
