2K 2 Year Plan?

2K11 isn't even out yet, but it's hard not to already think about what 2K12 could possibly do to improve upon 2K11. While you can never count out Visual Concepts to amaze you, let's face it, within a year it will be hard to drastically improve the game again.

So what if part of the team went ahead and started working on 2K13? A smaller team would work on 2K12, updating the rosters, uniforms, stadiums, etc., fixing small glitches, and adding a couple small features to freshen things up. This game could be released as usual, but at a budget price, $20-$30.

2K13 would come around in 2 years with big features (Online Association), improved graphics and animation engines, and whatever else 2K has up its sleeve for the full $60.

I'd be content with just alternating between paying for an update and full game every other year. As a gamer you get more than half-assed efforts, and don't pay full price every year.

Just a thought.

Maybe they could do that but the NBA doesnt allow one game to be cheaper then the other so only way they could sell it for $20-30 is if NBA live/elite 12 did as well.

Well what they could do...although I guess it is a tough thing to do because it'd be an entire year later...is give a coupon for 30 bucks (or whatever) with NBA 2k12 off of NBA 2k13, although I am sure EA wouldn't be happy about that. Unless the NBA could actually lock out coupons...

People buy the game every year regardless of price, so why would 2k take a year off?

Really NBA doesn't allow that??? Wasn't one of the 2K games (2K5/2K4) I think it was only $19.99 when it released. Has the NBA changed rules because of that? Live back then lowered it's price to like 39.99

I'm hoping Microsoft is working on the next console, so by the 2012 holiday season I can buy one. I'd like for it to have integrated physics so the games could be even more realistic.

I personally think this is a false statement, could you prove it in any way? For Canadians NBA 2K11 is scheduled to be $59.99 and NBA Elite 11 was going to be $69.99 (based on futureshop Canada & bestbuy Canada

I don't doubt they have been working on 2k11 for two years, that's why 2k10 was no that great of a game. Its safe to assume the 2k12 is not going to be a big improvement over this game, so the next great basketball title will probably be 2k13. I think this is a great idea. These companies are not going to skip a year, because they will be losing money, so they put out a mediocre title the year after a great title, then after that they put out a great game. So if you are smart, do not buy this game or other sports games every year.
It almost like the COD franchise instead of coming out with Modern Warfare every year they put out a lower end title in between then a couple years later the BIG title comes out.

EA probably complained after that happen and the NBA had to change it.

If there is no special feature for the cover of NBA 2K12, I think the dev team will have more time in the development of the gameplay and improvements for various modes. Also, they've started to implement great little things in 2K11 that hopefully they'll focus more on the next iteration.

I wish that they would do something like this. This way we get a product every two years with features that have been work to completetion instead of work till deadline. Would give them more time to test the new features.
