    Breakaways for the CPU ???

has anyone noticed that the CPU can very easily score on a breakaway. They seem almost always deke the goalie for a easy goal.

Just to check if they could do it every time I let the CPU get 5 breakaways in a row and every time they deked out the goalie.

    Bug/glitch anyone?

I can deke out the goalie every time too. Backhand, forehand, goal.

Whenever my CPU goes on a breakaway, they almost always skate into the goalie or do a deke into the goalies pads...

I play with goaltender reaction at 5 for the CPU, now I tend to score a lot less on breakaways while the goalies have remained human enough to still beat.

Now, when it comes to giving up breakaway goals...I've found its best to try REALLY hard not to give them up.

Gotta think in NHL 11. I like that.

Yep OBG...I try my best not to give them up either.

The cpu is pretty deadly on the breakaways, with a talented player especially. As it should be imo. I use a 2-1-2 high strategy for the reason of trying to not let anyone get behind me. Of course nothings perfect, but that strategy works pretty well.

Your so right about having to think in this years game. Myself...I only press hard and pinch in deep only when I have to. With last years game, Robo goalie saved me while I was busy doing stupid things. Not this year. The cpu players are just too good now, and the goalies are more of what they should be like....human-like. Yep, I enjoy it too.

            Couldn't agree more Vikes.
Like you said, last year when the CPu got a breakaway, you just had to rush back and try to control the rebound, as they failed to score 8 out of 10 times.

This time, you really feel obligated to try to trip them if you can, because they will score.

I haven't really noticed that actually.. maybe 'cause I usually end up behind the player and do a dive pokecheck.. most of hte time I end up knocking the puck out and it's still in play, only tripped the cpu once or twice so far.. guess I've just been lucky lol. Eventhough I've been using OBG's slider, so the goalies reactions are pretty high but makes it lot fun to play, even the goalies would make an awesome save during the breakaway.. we (me and the cpu) have both been robbed by goals that I couldn't believe my eyes lol.

Re: Breakaways for the CPU ???

The CPU breakaways in this game is a problem. sometime it can be a game killer. (when they scores againt you for 3 out of 3)
I just trip them, and get the penalty shot against me.

Totally agree. When the computer gets a breakaway, it's almost a guaranteed goal. It's so frustrating.

However, when it's a good player, it's kind of realistic, but when it's some 3rd liner dangling all over my goalie, it's ridiculous.

Hmm as usual there are different opinions. it must have something to do with what sliders you have. I can agree on that its sometimes realistic but come on, almost everytime theres a breakaway there is a goal. And there are not to many different ways they deke the goalie either. often they do it the same way. :S BORING!!!

I'm glad that the CPU is deadly on breakaways. Like OBG said, in the past you could often be bailed out by robo-goalie. Not anymore. If you give up a breakaway, you should pay more times than not.

I lost a game in OT to the Devils when Kovalchuck (sic?) smoked Anderson on a breakaway. I wasn't mad at the goal b/c it was an awesome move and I love seeing the CPU use deke moves. What I was mad at was Liles (my defender) letting the puck go right through his legs. You can't let that happen, especially in OT.

The CPU can pull off some sick dekes on the goalie. Myself, I usually choke because I'm trying so hard just to separate from the defender. Then my timing is all messed up and I don't have enough time and space to execute what I want to do. I like the ol' forehand, click in the right analog stick for the leg kick, then roofing it backhand. I still feel like there's so much potential to breakaway dekes that I haven't even tapped into yet. Got to work on my precision stick skills. It's all about timing.

If its Kovi get the breakaway , i dont mind if he scores 9 out of 10 .
but ANY player is over 95% breakaway scorer. Garth murrey, Boogaard or Kovi, It doesnt matter, they can all do the same play/deke move and score.
I played many games, I think its a bug.
