Controls... infuriating

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The last bball game I played was College Hoops 2k8. That game always seemed to understand who I'm trying to pass the ball to. If I have a guy open under the basket and move the left stick in his direction and hit pass, 9 times out of 10 the pass will go across court to someone on the wing for some reason. Yes I know I can use icon passing, but sometimes you just don't have time if you want to make a quick pass.

Also, when you run a called play, what is the point of the 'A' (on xbox) that is above the target players head? if I press 'A', the pass only goes to that player some of the time; half the time it is thrown into traffic.

Am I doing something wrong? I don't get it.

Regular passing is inaccurate at best, use the right bumper to pass to whoever you want.

It sounds to me like you're passing to "A" too quickly on screen plays. Try to wait until your man is coming out of traffic before you pass it.

Just memorize the icons for the respective positions and use icon passing. Problem solved

today I was going for my 5th online win in a row after trying forever to get it. Its a big deal to me cuz i like getting achievements. I was playing this guy that was using the wizards (cherry picking sometimes too gah) and I battled back from being down and ended up having the ball in a tied game with 12 seconds left coming out of a timeout.

I was the bulls like normal and rose had the ball. Brewer came off a cut and was wide open under the net. I didnt icon pass because It happened so fast and I pointed towards him and pressed A and rose threw the ball across the court to someone else and it was a turnover. The guy went down and dunked the ball with a few seconds left and I ended up losing. (i would have had another shot if I had timeouts but I left timeout on auto and the CPU decided to call a timeout after I already called one to set up the play with 12 seconds left).

I was soooo ****ing pissed, and was screaming all sorts of stuff into the mic. I dont think Ill ever get that achievement and am kinda disenchanted with the game for now

I love how the first two replies tell him about icon passing which he clearly stated he already knows about but cannot always use because sometimes you need to get your pass off instantly. I totally know where you are coming from kev0ut.

well it is the best solution, the problem with quick passing is that the offensive is in constant movement so the person you may want to pass it to is no longer the closes option in that direction which leads to passing in traffic and turn overs.

that is definitely not true. We aren't like remedial videogame players, its pretty basic to point a direction with the left stick and press a button. It's not that the game is too fast and furious to keep up with, the passing is just inaccurate sometimes.

I wish that the guy you want to pass too would get a color icon under him when you press in his direction. This way if the game selects the wrong guy you could move your stick left or right to get the right guy. Problem would be solved.

I wish that the guy you want to pass too would get a color icon under him when you press in his direction. This way if the game selects the wrong guy you could move your stick left or right to get the right guy. Problem would be solved.

It does put a white ring underneath the guy you are going to pass to if I'm not mistaken. Seems like it would work great except it is obviously not easy to see and it tends to switch quickly for seemingly no reason sometimes, thus resulting in errant passes.

I hear you. The game is not perfect. I use icon passing 95% of the time and i seem to only use stick passing around the perimeter.

It is what it is for now.

Hmm, if it does I havent really noticed it. Maybe its faint and I just dont even realise its there. I will look tonight but if it switched ramdomly at times then it does us no good. Thats disappointing.

KevOut what camera do you use ? I try everything out on 2k or drive camera first to see how well its really working. Directional passing is not perfect but between icons option and changing your camera angle you may be able to lessen your frustration.

Even if you dont like those camera's give em a shot as they tend to make the game easier. Yes there is a white circle that goes under the person your passing to or are trying to pass to those angles can be tricky especially press or broadcast because at times there can be 2 or 3 players in that general direction.

ALso give right stick passing a shot. You tap the rb then press the right stick in the direction you want to pass.

try scrimmage mode with no shot clock and a good camera angle and just spend 10 minutes getting used to it and see how it feels.

PS. Please don't interpret any of this as me saying the game or passing is perfect. It's not but you can possibly get a lot more success passing using icon and the few suggestions mentioned above
