OMG!!! I Finally Beat the CPU on All-Star/Sim
I had to concentrate the entire game. I paid attention and finally won. It was the second game of my Knicks franchise. I beat the LA Clippers by 6 points.

I rape the CPU on all-star. I HAVE to go back to HOF because it's too easy for me now.'Only The Strong Survive'Comment

Re: OMG!!! I Finally Beat the CPU on All-Star/Sim
Congrats!
I also had problems playing the cpu on All-Star/Sim. I was getting defeated by 20+ points by every team while I was shooting 30% from the field. But by following Czar's/everyone's advice regarding practice mode, plays, defensive strategy and player matchups I am defeating the CPU more consistently while putting very realistic stats from all of my players. I am about to move to Superstar/Sim since I have improved my defensive game a lot, and the CPU is shooting below 40% from the field.
In my last association game using the Mavs against the Cavs the starters spent most of the 4th quarter on the bench since I was winning by 25-30 pts. I just LOVE this game! Keep practicing, and you will enjoy this materpiece more everyday you play.Last edited by manecodx03; 10-22-2010, 04:59 PM.Comment

Re: OMG!!! I Finally Beat the CPU on All-Star/Sim
Superstar is such a beast I dont know how anyone can play HoF. I played the Nets on Superstar and Outlaw and Lopez lit me up in the third. Still won by 8 but they had a six point lead and looked like were going to roll me.Comment

Re: OMG!!! I Finally Beat the CPU on All-Star/Sim
You know what's funny? I played a few play now games with the Jazz to get a feel for them and couldn't beat Minnesota. I then played the Celtics, Bulls, and Thunder. Beat all 3. Dismantled the Bulls and Thunder. Then I lost again to the T'Wolves.Comment

Re: OMG!!! I Finally Beat the CPU on All-Star/Sim
Exactly.
I am so proud of myself.
Some additional discoveries:
*You really have to play basketball. If you play videogames you will suck.
*The stats are sooooo realistic.
*Know the strengths of your players and their skills. I was trying to make Gallinari an athletic player. All he wants to do is shoot. Set him up for the shot and the man is golden.
*Think about your lineup. T-Doug is really a beast. I might start him. However, I'm going to give the starting lineup about 5 more games to make some changes.
*The Knicks need more players that can score. In order to make it to the top in this league, we are going to have to get better. This game already has me thinking about who to get. I am actually spending time going through my roster, thinking about future GM activities. Sometimes, I just launch the game and perform general manager and coaching activities (e.g. set practice, etc...).
*What I love about this game is that each team plays different, and has different strengths and weaknesses. You really have to know your opponent. I know that when I play LA, Kobe will NOT beat me. He will be on "Deny Ball" and always double team. I will force the other players to do it.
Best game ever made if you ask me.When the game is on the line, winners want the ball.Comment

I still haven't been able to do it lol, but I use the raptors. Don't you find the 3 point% is too low on these settings tho?Comment

Re: OMG!!! I Finally Beat the CPU on All-Star/Sim
I really don't see how people are winning as easy as they say they are. I expect to struggle some, since I've not played a 2K basketball game since regular xbox.
The one thing that bugs me the most is your team mates AI. I literally watch Kobe on a fast break retreat back court instead of filling the lane. You can have mad skills on the sticks, but computer AI you can't do anything about. I usually play on Allstar and haven't come close to beating anyone.
I realize some of you guys are probably 2K basketball veterans, but beating teams easily on HOF!Florida State Seminoles

Re: OMG!!! I Finally Beat the CPU on All-Star/Sim
Actually, I'm not touching the settings. I just play on All-Star/Sim. The only thing that they need to fix - in my humble opinion - is the fast break. The CPU men always catch up to human players, human guards on a fast break with no one between them and the basket will go to the wings instead of the basket, the game forces the human to go through a backwards or sidestep animation to slow you down so the defense can catch up, and the fast break that humans get always lead to points for the CPU when you miss it and they take and make their shot.
Is there a slider for that? Cause if there is, I would definitely adjust it. Besides that, everything is fine in my opinion. The 3-point percentages seem about right. You need a good shooter with a good look to make them. T-Doug kept us alive by making back-to-back 3 pointers. When the game is on the line, winners want the ball.Comment
