Glitches and console freezing: is 2k11 compromising our PS3?

Dunno what the f**k is up with this game but I've been getting all sorts of glitches while playing and they only seem to happen with 2k11:

- PS3 freezes in the middle of a game
- PS3 freezes during cutscenes
- PS3 freezes during timeout
- PS3 freezes during pressbook viewing
- the HP halftime show stops all of a sudden
- the post-match highlights/stats screen disappears and you can't get back to it
- annoying flickering screen/textures while playing and in the menus
- my custom tracks looping 24/7 in game and in the menus at max volume
etc.
- music disappears completely from menus/cutscenes and matches

...and now the game freezes my PS3 on the first timeout cutscene every single time I try to play an Association Denver - Chicago match that was saved halfway through the 2nd quarter (it's happened 4 times in a row now)

Also, a friend of mine got the yellow led and his 5 months old PS3 stopped working within days from getting the game.

So yeah, is NBA2k11 compromising our Playstation 3's? Did 2ksports release an unfinished, glitchy product that actually turns out to be harmful for the console?

I've never had a single problem with my system and as of now 2k11 is the only game that's giving me these kinda issues and to add insult to injury I'm forced to turn off my console with the I/O button everytime it freezes which will probably deteriorate the system on the long run...

How the heck did they manage to get this $hit through the Q&A session...I swear I'm about to turn the game back in, I feel sincerely robbed.

Gaming these days is all about exploiting deceived customers, I swear.

PS3 user here, the game only froze on me once and it was when I was saving a replay in Season mode. Other than that, I have not experienced any type of freezing whatsoever. Maybe it's your PS3. I have the fat 60G PS3 also

can't be my PS3, just played three full 8-minutes-halves FIFA 11 matches and a full GT5:Prologue offline race and it didn't freeze once.

It's NBA 2k11 fault (either a corrupted association mode file or just the game flat out sucking big time).

I actually have just 1 save file for the Association mode + 1 created player, so not that many (no replays, no photos, nothing else).

I'm trying to play a full 12-minutes-quarters quick match as we speak to rule out the corrupted file hypothesis, let's see how it goes.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

I have not had any of these issues. The only one I notice are play call displays nothing sometimes (a bug that will be patched probably) and sometimes I get some in game lag offline....it does not happen that often but it has happened in maybe 2 or 3 of the 3 dozen or so games I played.


Might be that game disc. Take it back and get a new one.

as a 360 user, i have to sign out of xboxlive before launching 2k11 and sign in once i'm in, or else the game makes my console freeze 100% of the time at the "loading file" point. (and i have to repeat that operation every single time i wanna play the game wtf)

i have 0 problem with any other game (except may be 2k10)

in a way, thx very much 2k for releasing the best game i've ever played, and in an other way, WTF is going on with this game?

Just finished my 12 minutes quarters full "Quick match", the game didn't freeze once/glitch at all.

So yeah, the reason behind all of the issues mentioned in the OP is most likely the Association file being corrupted somehow...way to f**k up even further the Association mode, 2k sports (also, there goes my association /sigh).

I am about 10 games into my Cavs association. I have played around 8 of the games, all 12 minute quarters, and I have experienced 0 freezes on my PS3.

Sorry to hear about your problem, that is why with NBA 2k you always make multiple save files for your Association, that way if one gets corrupted, you have a back up.

nope, it's just random malfunctioning of the saving feature, it's basically poor programming. It happens with FIFA 09/10/11 a lot as well.

I ended up starting a new association and everything's fine, I will keep two save files up from today onward as previously suggested in this thread though, fool me once...
