Good review. Both IGN and gamespot had well written reviews this year.

Ok, if Sega gets a lower score this year from Gamespot, what are Sega extremists going to say now? That's pretty much EVERY magazine and webzine calling Madden the best NFL game. My first guess would be a conspiracy theory -- EA "payed-off" all these reviewers

Nah not this year. This is the make or break year for Sega. Last year was about stealing some thunder, but this year they're suppose to compete head up.
Too bad when ESPN finally ships, Madden will have sold 1 million units then.

EA gives money to IGN and other reviewers and this brings into question the objectivity of some of the EA game reviews. For example, go back and read the IGN review of Madden 2001 and you will find NO mention of the horrible defesive AI in that game! EA often gets a free ride with many reviewers and this is a fact so deal with it.

Sega fans would say that most mainstream reviewers are more likely to be interested in things like mini-camp mode and the extensive franchise options than in depicting the game of football accurately on the field.

And I would basically agree with them. Madden is a good football engine with lots of bells and whistles, and ESPN is a great football engine with fewer bells and whistles. It just depends on what you want (personally, I'll buy them both), but I think places like IGN and Gamespot are impressed by feature sets more than game engines.

I don't agree with the CRIB thing sega is doing with ESPN NFL, I think it's ghetto.

Madden received an 8 for sound and 8 for graphics. Can anyone tell me why? Well, for starters teh grahpics haven't changed a bit from last years title, maybe slightly which doesn't bother me. The sound is the same except for the theme songs they have which I don't care for.

ESPN NFL aka NFL2k4 will probably rank higher then Madden only for one reason.

Gameplay is the same but slightly changed, graphics have been drasticlly changed, sound has been changed, and the engine of the game has been altered a bit. So there have been many changes for sega.

We wait and see.
