Madden NFL 08 (Updated) : Full Quarter Gameplay

    Full Quarter Gameplay

This is an Xbox 360 Exclusive.

I am bringing the community an updated Madden NFL 08 roster (releasing in the next months). The team working on this release is the same team behind Backbreaker NFL 11, NFL 2K11, and NFL Fever 2011.

We are also known as RateSports. We are very excited to bring you guys the most realistic NFL roster.

    Hope you guys like it!

    looks great!

I preferred Madden 07 and 08 over Madden 09-11 as well.

too bad its not possible for yall to alter PS3 game saves, like the 360 versions.

Thought this was going to be about Madden 08 PC.

That's still the best version of Madden IMO.

Re: Madden NFL 08 (Updated) : Full Quarter Gameplay

While I wasn't a huge fan of that game, and I did play it quite a bit, one thing I want to point out is that EA needs to go back through every older Madden game from about Madden 2001 or Madden 2002 and on, and write down a few aspects from every game that they got right, and try to bring it together and put into madden 2012.

A few things that I noted from watching that video:

-The camera angles between plays that shows the stadium in all its glory from different angles. Like when you watch on sundays, the broadcast department does all kinds of camera angles to show the blimp view, outside the stadium, around the inside of the stadium, etc. and really brings dimension to the size of the stadium, and adds to the immersion factor.

-the CPU running back was running like a human player. Stringing together jukes, spins, stiff arms, trucking etc. That was a thing of beauty. In madden 2011, the CPU running backs don't run like that as much, and would be a much welcomed addition.

-I liked the weapon idea, kinda like the way APF2k8 approached the game of football, and I'd love to see EA go to this approach. I believe it far outweighs a number system.

-I also liked the upclose camera views of all the players, and how the players looked more like NFL players instead of anorexic copies of their real life counterparts. In madden 2009, 10, and 11, the players look too small in proportion to each other and the stadium. Madden 2008 I believe got this right.

Re: Madden NFL 08 (Updated) : Full Quarter Gameplay

After seeing that video, I might give this game a try again. I remember when I first bought my PS3 back in November 2007, I blindly got Madden 08 and actually played it for awhile, but there were problems with this game (besides not being as good as NFL 2K5) that really irked me.

          - Camera Angle: could not be adjusted, so if you threw in to the flats, it was either caught or picked off.

          - Jersey Numerals: I traded away Kris Jenkins to the Chargers and his jersey number was #2. Unrealistic.

I do not recall anything else bad about this game except those two game killers. It really was a watered down product, but now that it is like 5 bucks, I will definately give this game a try again. I have a new approach to playing Franchise games because the Computer AI logic isn't exactly that strong yet. I'd play Exhibiton games and act as if they're a scheduled game and use the ole pen and paper to mark down stats and transactions. It's a lot of work, but I had fun and realism. No AI can be as strong as the imagination. Something I did as a kid when I played the wrestling games on Sega, I used to create my own King of the Ring tournaments with brackets cause of the lack of game modes.

Whenever I get my hands on Madden 08, I want to use the default roster, but adjust some of the ratings so they are stretched out (like Madden 10). I liked that idea, because it really seperated the bench warmers, mediocre, and elite players.

EDIT: With the Exhibiton idea, you can actually utilize your own roster and the injured reserve system would actually work and you can have practice squads and everything. There is so much the imagination can do... think about it.

I always liked the introductions they did back in 07 and 08.

Just ordered a copy from Amazon.com for 4 bucks - Can't wait to play it again. I never thought I would be so excited for Madden 08. I looked at a ton of videos and you are correct, the gameplay looks very nice.

Is there any tools out there, like the Flying Finn editor that can open up the game so we can get photos of the players (ie Vinny Testaverde). I know he is not on the default roster, but he is on the disc.

I never played the 360 version of Madden 08, but the ps3 version is terrible. It plays at a much lower fps rate than any other version and turnovers happen about 10x more than they should. Also, as others have mentioned the modes are really, really watered down. This game on that system is one of the worst versions in the 20 year history of the franchise.

Madden 08 had double hit tackles.

After watching that video, I truly believe Madden is heading in the wrong direction and the game is truly worse off now.

Updating the rosters I guess. But, dammit I went out and bought Madden 08 for like 2 bucks and just realized the rosters aren't out yet.

I bought my copy off of Amazon. After playing Madden 10 and 11, Madden 08 has a way better feel. I do not know why, I remember I despised this game. The gameplay mechanics are definately superior- David Ortiz and his staff was going in the right direction. However, the game has many flaws like Franchise - but if the new updated roster comes out, I think I can enjoy this game with house rules.
