I finally gave Madden a chance, and I love it... Madden 10, that is

I'm usually pretty vocal about being an NCAA guy, and I usually don’t go for Madden, but I got the NFL itch over Christmas break, and rented Madden 11. I really didn’t like what I saw. Compared to NCAA 11, I felt like Madden 11 was a definite downgrade. I’m not usually one who cares too much about graphics, as long as they’re decent, but to me Madden 11 looks awful. The player models have huge heads that make them look ridiculous. Also, I found all camera options to be unplayable. The default camera jerks around like an amateur film, and the other options are either too zoomed in or too zoomed out. In terms of commentary, I quickly had to turn it off, for obvious reasons. Most importantly, I never could find a slider combination that produced a fun, realistic game.

On a whim, I decided to download the Madden 10 demo, and was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. I picked up Madden 10 used for $8, and I’ve been having a great time with it. The default camera angle is workable, the commentary isn’t over-the-top annoying, and—maybe I’m crazy—but the graphics are much better. Even little things like the menu design and cut scenes come off better in Madden 10. And it didn't take me long to find a slider combo that gave me a realistic, enjoyable game. The only thing I really miss from Madden 11 is the run blocking and running animations. I feel like everything else is equal or better in Madden 10.

Anyone out there prefer Madden 10?

Funny you say this....Madden 10 was the first next gen madden I got. And in Madden 11, as usual they cut out features from Madden 10 (halftime show etc.)...I don't know why they do that...just to piss us off???
I feel like Madden 10 in general looked a little better but madden 11 plays better...it feels like old gen more to me (including same problems). I'm now playing 11 and like it alot for the game play (have good sliders now too), Madden 10 felt more frustrating to me game play wise...too many KO for TD's, int's etc but it was definately a better looking game. I'm satisfied with 11 but agree with you on the graphics. funny, whenever I played NCAA I felt like the game didn't play smoothly, yet many out there swear each year it's a better game. Anyway, good luck, love to hear what you think.

I'm just an NCAA guy, but I got Maden 2010 for Christmas. Haven't even tried Madden 2011 and haven't had a Madden since the Ray Lewis cover for PS2 whatever year that was.

I really like Madden 2010.

One question I have though is On all Madden, the 4 global human sliders are at 15. If you go into Custom you can change the undividual sliders like QBA, Pass Blocking, WR catch, etc. They are set up in groups of 3 that feed up to the global sliders. If your group of 3 sliders totals 75 or less, the global slider will be at 15.

Anyway, does anyone know what exactly the individual sliders are for All-Madden. You can only see the globals of 15. I would like to know the human formula that makes that up. And on ALL-MADDEN is the AI really just playing with all their sliders at 50 or is there something going on behind the scenes there.

I noticed if I put in custom sliders the AI catches alot of balls by the sidelines, but doesn't get 2 feet in, when I played ALL-MADDEN, the AI was doing some sideline animations where they would drag their feet. Very interesting.

1. The pursuit angles are lousy in 10 and much better in 11, especially with the latest title update.

2. The cut scenes are horrible in 10. After a TD, the cut scene usually cuts to the FG kicker receiving the high fives, instead of the player. Fixed for 11.

3. The latest title update has defensive changes similar to NCAA, which beats Madden 10's defense.

Sorry, those are a few of the reasons I enjoy 11 better than 10.

Speaking of Madden 10 i got a copy for the p2 believe it or not from my godson for x-mas

Anyway, i noticed that you could shade receivers. Are you able to do this on the ps3 version? Also, noticed the vision cone which I don't think was in the ps3 version but could be wrong.

Granted I haven't played with the latest patch but I have no interest in doing so. Football gaming is in the rearview mirror for me at this point. But I will give '12 a shot, like I do with every game every year.

Granted I haven't played with the latest patch but I have no interest in doing so. Football gaming is in the rearview mirror for me at this point. But I will give '12 a shot, like I do with every game every year.

I decided to wait until team tiburon put out their final patch. I am loving Madden 11. I am going to be a final patch Madden gamer from now on. I gave Madden a 16 month development cycle and the extended cycle (patches) is worth the wait.

Madden 11 with the final patch is a better game than NCAA 11. Madden player movement and pursuit angles are off the hook.

I completely agree. Madden 10 was the first next gen Madden I had, and I enjoyed it for a while. Madden looked alittle better,but Madden 11 plays better and it feels like PS2 madden, which is awesome!

1. Agreed. Defense was terrible in Madden 10 because of this, and undefended flats.

2. Agreed. I hated making a nice offensive play, only for the game to cut to the sideline and have my offense celebrating...on the sideline.

Just with madden 11 awful roll around tackling makes this game worst then any madden I have played,but that's just me.Madden 10 with even the pursuit angle problems was a good game.

I just picked it up from Target - 39 bucks brand new. Had the NFL itch considering the Bears are making football worthwhile in Chicago again. I'm actually digging the hell out of this game, and I'm in my 6th season of NCAA so I've had my fair share of EA football gaming this year.

It's hard to pinpoint the differences, but I feel like Madden is more polished - maybe the patches had something to do with it.

Also, one other nice thing - you get a free 7 day trial of the online pass before you have to type in your code. That should get you the rosters/patches that you need without having to buy.
