Bulls Set to Make Big Announcement
(Gar Forman, Tom Thibodeau, and Jerry Reinsdorf are seated in front of a room full of media set to announce something that will shake the NBA)

Gar Forman and Tom Thibodeau set to make their announcement

    June 25, 2010

Jerry Reinsdorf: We stumbled up on a bit of incredible technology and we were presented with an unbelievable opportunity that we could not pass up. I will let Gar open with some statements and then he will officially make the announcement.

Gar Forman: A group of scientists came to us about 8 months ago with some news of something they had discovered. I didn't understand all the scientific mumbo jumbo, but what they told me sounded very intriguing. They told me they had been working on a project for the last 5 or 6 years on the ability to go back in time, a time machine of sorts. There is a particular scientist in this group that I am very good friends with and one night over drinks we got to talking and we got on the subject of the Bulls glory days. I jokingly said how great it would be if we could take any version of the 1990's Michael Jordan and put him on this current Bulls team. That's when my friend informed me of their project. After several months of experimenting and heavy discussion we decided to take advantage of this incredible technology.

Now, for the announcement....Michael Jordan (1991-1992 version) will be joining the 2010-2011 Chicago Bulls.

    I will now take questions.

Media Member #1: How is it fair for you guys to be able to take advantage of this and not other teams? If you are able go back and get Jordan, shouldn't other teams be allowed to do the same?

Forman: Yes, they should, and they did. Other teams around the league did the same as us. David Stern made it permissible for any team to bring back one player. As soon as we decided to try this, we went to Stern, and he quickly called an owners meeting with all 30 NBA teams. After it was decided everyone would be allowed to go back and sign one player, most did so.

Media Member #2: Tom, by signing Jordan, what are you expecting from your new look squad?

Thom Thibodeau: We feel like we have a team more than capable of winning a championship. Michael addresses our biggest need at the shooting guard position. I'm very honored to have the chance to coach a player of his magnitude.

Jerry Reinsdorf: Like we've already stated, this is too incredible of an opportunity to pass up. We had to take advantage of this and we're very glad other teams around the league are doing the same. That will be all of the questions for now. There will be a press release of our decision along with the other signings by the other teams of the league in the coming weeks.

Some of these teams are loaded, now. Going to be tough to win a championship.

Jordan 46 points, Drexler 40 points, Star in High Scoring Shootout

Chicago, IL -- Two of yesteryear's stars hooked up for an old fashion duel. Clyde Drexler and Michael Jordan both scored 40+ points in a game where Portland and Chicago combined to score 286 points. Jordan's 46 points outdid Drexler's 40 as Chicago won their third consecutive game to start the season.

Chicago raced out to an early 20-8 lead paced by Michael Jordan's 11 points, highlighted by a thunderous dunk, that brought the entire crowd out of their seats. The Chicago bench came in and maintained the lead. Second year big man Taj Gibson gave the Bulls 7 points in 4 minutes of work in the first quarter. C.J. Watson nailed a three pointer as time expired and the Bulls lead 37-25 after one quarter of play.

Portland would score the first six points of the second quarter but a Michael Jordan three pointer put Chicago ahead 40-31. Portland would go on a 10-2 run and turn a 58-44 game into a 58-54 game with 2:57 remaining in the first half. The Bulls would push their lead back to 15 on the heels of a 11-0 run. A highlight reel dunk by Clyde Drexler in the finals seconds of the half made it a 69-56 game after two quarters of play.

The two teams would trade baskets the first three minutes of the third quarter. A Portland timeout with 9:02 left came with Chicago leading 77-64. Out of the timeout, Derek Rose stole a Brandon Roy pass and went coast to coast for the slam, putting Chicago ahead 79-64. Michael Jordan scored his 29th point of the game with 5:28 remaining in the third quarter to put the Bulls ahead 90-75. An 8-0 Portland run would make it a 90-83 game. Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau would call a timeout to get his starters a rest. The Chicago second unit's fresh legs proved to be effective as they went on an 8-0 run of their own to make it a 98-73 game with 2:54 left in the third quarter. Despite a 17 point quarter by Clyde Drexler, Portland still found themselves behind 105-90 after three quarters of play.

Portland went on an 8-0 run to turn a 115-96 game into a 115-104 contest. Thibodeau had seen enough and he called a timeout to get his starting unit back on the floor. An old fashion three point play by Luol Deng put Chicago back ahead by 17, 124-107, with 7:04 remaining in the game. Two straight Portland turnovers resulted in turnovers that lead directly to four Chicago points. The Bulls pushed their run to 11-0 and took a 128-107 lead, their biggest lead of the game. Both teams would trade baskets the rest of the way out, and in one of the highest scoring games in NBA history, Chicago came out victorious 154-132.

Yes, I will be going from 12 minute quarters down to 9 or 10. Didn't expect to score that easily with these sliders.
