For those that have won the Stanley Cup

Is it possible for someone other than the goalie to win the Conn Smythe trophy? I just finished an entire season and won the Stanley Cup. I had to pull my goalie from the game at least twice in the playoffs and his save percentage was well below .900. He did not even earn all 16 wins as the backup got a few when he came in to replace the starter.

What's even worse is that my leading scorer (Toews) had the most points among the entire league. He was the front-runner for the award, or so I thought.

It's by no means the end of the world but it is rather disappointing for a goali who played terrible throughout the playoffs to be named it's MVP. I am really hoping that this aspect of the game gets some much-needed attention next year.

Yes it is. I had it happen actually in the demo twice. Haven't yet since I bought the game as I have yet to win the cup.

Yeah, I've won the Conn Smythe with Crosby a few times. Its kind of like winning the Hart in the regular season, just have to have the outstanding stats to get noted over the goalies, since they usually win the Hart also.

In the 2006 playoffs Cam Ward was pulled multiple times, didn't get all of his team's wins, and his teammates Eric Staal and Corey Stillman were the top two playoff scorers in the league. Cam Ward still won the Conn Smythe that year, so the situation you describe isn't exactly far-fetched. I think the Hart trophy predicament is more out of control. I once had a player get 75 goals and lead the league in scoring by 10 points and M.A. Fleury won the Hart with like 42 wins, 2.42 GAA and .912 save percentage (good but not outstanding).
