So I guess this means they're keeping Fisher. Who do you guys think will go after Young?

Honestly surprised. Really seemed Bud was stuck on VY and Fish would be out. Fish may still be out, but shocked to see Vince out of Tennessee.

I still think he's a guy who given a chance in a environment under a coach who actually wants him can be successful.

Very surprising he would take a losing coach over a winning QB, even with Vince's past issues he wins games and thats all that matters at the end of the day.

              No brainer.

VY can't stay healthy, ain't that good when he is healthy, and won't put in the work to be good.

Fisher needs to go too, but this is a nice first step.

Five years and one day after the best single game in BCS history, the Titans kicked Vince Young to the curb. Amazing anniversary.

VY will go somewhere and rock the NFL in a redemptive way.
                  He is not done.

                  Just couldnt mesh with Fisher.
I think they should keep Coach Fish, better long term, and he is a very good coach.

I don't think they were choosing between VY and Fisher. VY was gone regardless. I mean, let's say they fired Fisher and kept VY. The coach they hire would know that the previous coach had been effectively fired by the QB. Would you want that job? How can you coach a team when players can go over your head and get the owner to fire you? You just can't run a team like that.

So I'm not really surprised by this move. VY will get an opportunity to play somewhere. He's shown that he has what it takes to start in the NFL, and he's got the tools to be a really good one if he can put it all together. That's just not going to happen in Nashville.

The interesting thing for me is what is going to happen with Fisher. He's got 1 year left on his contract, so Bud might give him another season. I don't know. If they don't fire him now, the pressure is really going to be on after next season when we go 4-12 with some scrub as our QB. I'd personally like to see them fire Fisher ASAP so the new coach can pick a QB of their choosing in the 2011 draft.

Dude should fire Fisher while he's at it. My brother asked me if I think Buffalo will take a chance on Young. I pray they don't. I want him to be successful lol

There is nothing about Fishers' resume that says he should keep his job. I thought they would keep VY and fire Fisher not because he didnt want VY but because he hasn't been winning lately. I understand not wanting a guy but to create the environment that he did with VY is unbecoming of any good coach.

Re: Vince Young done as a titan.

I may pull for VY like the rest of the Texas faithful, but the guy is simply not a franchise QB - 5 years ago I would never have said this.

I mean, he's shown he can win but he's never shown the work ethic or fortitude as an NFL QB - who the hell whines & throws a hissy-fit when the hometown boo's? - to make me think otherwise; he continued to make boneheaded decisions, seemed to not be able to read defenses properly, etc but always seemed to do enough to help the team win. While winning is everything, at some point, a team can only get so far by scrapping by every game with up and down QB play. This franchise needs a consistent hand, even if it isn't the best. That's been the Titans downfall, inconsistent QB play. If Collins & Young were one player, they'd have a great QB, but it seemed when one was up the other was always down.

I see Young getting one more shot as a starter in the league and if he doesn't succeed, expect him to be a great backup or even alternate starting QB (as he is now) for the remainder of his career until the wheels give up. Until he starts to approach the game mentally, you'll never see Young reach the heights he should have reached.

I guess he'll be JUST WINZ-ing on the bench somewhere.

Makes no sense to get rid of your "failed" franchise qb, let this coach, who should be fired pick, the next "franchise qb" only to go into next season with a horrific and rebuilt defense and a new qb and zero playoff expectations, and then when he puts in another 6-10 season, let him walk only to have a new coach come in and what, just accept the team as is? why not get rid of the coach, let the new coach get his qb and start rebuilding the team his way. I think keeping fish at this point will only hurt the team long term.
