Re: Beginner help
as always...focus on shooting first(find a jumpshot animation you're most comfortable with...i prefer Waves)
primarily:
-medium shot
-shoot off dribble
-consistency
once you have a mid-range game and a means of scoring anytime you want...you could then start focusing on other aspects of your game like 3 point shot(making you more of a long range threat) or shifting over to your defensive skill set
defense:
-verticals(helps with blocks and rebounds)
-hands(helps with rebounds and steals)
-on-ball(helps with steals and cutting off your opponent)
-hustle(helps with blocks, rebounds, and steals)
-steal
***do rebounding and blocks later on when you have more skill points you can expend
i typically dont like to go after layups and dunks in the beginning of my career but if you do... get layup and dunking up to around 70 or 80 to unlock the packages
boosting teammate grade:
-double teaming
-rebounding
-assists
-free throws
-setting picks
-contesting shots
-blocks and steals(hard to do when your starting out)
when you want to make assists...make sure the distance between you and your target isnt that far...and if you intend to make a pass with a defender in front of you...make sure he's literally in your face so that you pass around him RATHER than to him...
teammates seem to score a bit more easier in transition...especially for jumpshots...if you have a 3 point shooter running along the sidelines during a fastbreak and you have a wide open lane to give him the ball...do it...
pick and rolls will get you assists like it's nothing...press L1(LB) then press the desired teammate button(as that player move towards you, LET GO of the button)..***n the pick and roll...if you hold the button to long after you call for it...it might do a pick and popComment

Re: Beginner help
just practice man...go to the practice mode they have and shoot a few shot until you get used to it...
caution though...contested jumpers are just a bit flawed after the patch...they dont go in as much anymore...
you should be fine if you pay attention to those bars by the bottom of your player's feet to show how high of a probability you'll sink the shot...
pump faking is also greatComment

Re: Beginner help
Also turn shoot feedback on it is one of the presentation options, it will help get your timing on during games since shooting in practice mode and in game can be slightly different, also learn a few go to plays that will help you get separation for easier shots.PSN=Coolcas7Comment

Re: Beginner help
I was looking through the different options and found that i can shoot as real % instead of timing so im using that in games and in practice mode im using shot stick to get my timing down. Ive also decided to hault my my player mode so i can get better before i start itComment

Re: Beginner help
it's more so timing for me...i can hit freethrows even if my rating is at 50 so long as i use allen iverson's freethrow animation...but if you venture out further from the hoop(mid-range and 3's) then skill set factors in more considerably...both are still important to have..Comment
