The last news I heard a couple of weeks ago was that there was a company that claimed to have broken Sony's encrypted code...but then they were sued by Sony. It might not ever happen because Sony is determined to keep their files encrypted.

Yeah the guys who cracked the encryption code were sued by Sony, so don't hold your breath for PS3 file encryption ever being opened up.
