Favorite NBA Player [Now] & Favorite [Growing Up]

    And are there any parallels?

As a kid I would watch those horrific Knicks teams manned by Hubie Brown.
    What an initiation huh?

I ended up gravitating to Bernard King as my guy.
Mostly because I noticed on his Basketball card that he was born on my b-day, December 4th.

But the way he dominated games really stood out.
    Man he was something.
He seemed like he could score 40 a night if he wanted to, makes me wonder why he didnt.

As i grew older the Ewing Knicks were the rage and my guy as a young adult was Anthony Mason. But to a lesser extent and I never really said, 'he's my guy'.

Presently as far as Knicks go? Gallinari. [But I can sure see Landry Fields making his way yup that ladder pretty quickly]. Though my favorite non Knick is far and away Kevin Durant.
Just seems old school to me.
I think there are parallels between my fave as a youth [King] and my fav today [Durant] both being sick scorers at will. Though I do think that Durant has better range.

I know there are more comparable old schoolers than King, like Gervin for example.
But I am looking for any parallel, to see if there was a certain guy i gravitate too.

I guerss I gravitate to those old school scorer types.

Other players I took a liking to through the years:

    Ray Williams
    Greg Anthony

Anyways, what do you guys think?

Growing up (and by growing up, I mean when I was like 8-13): MJ and Steve Kerr, Kueth Duany and Josh Pace (I know they never made it to the NBA but still)

Now: Steve Nash (everybody used to call me Nash in high school and the guy that actually gave Nash shooting lessons gave me lessons too so I thought that was kinda cool), everybody that plays for the Milwaukee Bucks, Ray Allen (the reason I became a Bucks fan), TJ Ford, and in College: Jimmer Fredette, CJ Fair
        NFL: Bills
        NBA: Bucks
        MLB: Cubs
        NCAA: Syracuse
        Soccer: USMNT/DC United

When I was younger I loved Michael, but wasn't old enough to really understand his brilliance.

                    interesting.
is he popular down there with NO fans, kind of how Landry Fields is gaining popularity up here?

What maes him rise to the top for you?
                    I only know him peripherally.

Kinda yeah he went to LSU and that pretty much uppd his popularity instantly. He was the only reason I watched LSU BBall a few years ago and was very exciting to watch and for the most part that continued in his rookie year.

I didn't really include anyone else off the Hornets because it wouldn't be true, however I do like to watch KD,Griffin, and Dwight play.

Michael Jordan was the reason I first got interested in basketball in 1996, so I'll do this in a "Jordan Era" (1996-1999), "Post Jordan Era 1" (2000-2002), "Post Jordan Era 2" (2004-now) format.

Jordan Era - Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Penny Hardaway, Tim Hardaway, Glen Rice, Mitch Richmond

Post Jordan Era 1 - Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Allen Iverson, Shaquille O'Neal, Ray Allen, Scottie Pippen

Post Jordan Era 2 - Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Baron Davis, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Ty Lawson, Ray Allen, Ben Wallace

                            Cincinnati Reds

                            UNC Tarheels
