Changing teams to a 3-4 defense

When changing teams to a 3-4 defense in Coaching Schemes, does it mess up their play calling since their playbook is probably 4-3 based?

I am controlling all the teams but only playing for one team.

No but it messes up when you sim games. All the defensive stats will come out like that team runs a 3-4 even though some of them teams run 4-3. They messed that up this year. On 10 you can manually go to each team and put 3-4 or 4-3 for each team depending on what they run. On this one every team will be either 3-4 or 4-3. Hope they fix that on 12..

I only changed teams that are 3-4 and that's how it looks, no problem. All teams do not have to be 3-4 or 4-3 if done correctly. After changing a team to 3-4, back out of that screen and do the next team, and save it when completed.

As I see it, the 3-4 teams are using a 4-3 playbook and that's what concerns me. So the issue seems to be a problem only when simming, unless there was a way to change playbooks as with the PC version. Would be nice if there was an editor for this game.

Can you change the playbook each team uses? When I had a chise (one team) and changed to a 3-4, I just changed my D playbook to use say, the dolphins so I had a 3-4 playbook....don't know if you can save that though for all teams.

That's the problem, saving for all teams. You could do that with MVP08 PC version (football-freaks mod) using an editor.

Maybe worth a try is starting a game you are not playing and change the playbook, click on quit to sim the game and then save your franchise. The question at this point is will the playbook change remain? Probably not, but I will give it a go and see what happens.

I don't know why Madden got all those 3-4 teams wrong.

Re: Changing teams to a 3-4 defense

I tried playing the game and changing the Dolphins playbook to Pittsburgh's playbook, which worked for the game but did not save. I then played as the Dolphins with their own playbook and it did show 3-4. Thus, it seems that changing 4-3 teams to 3-4 works even though the playbook remains team specific.

I have a 32 team offline franchise and switched the correct teams that use 3-4 to a 3-4. When I play against them I see them using it. Not sure about sim stats though...all of the stats for every team ( I only play every game with my Pats) are pretty equal. No more guys with 30 tackles midway and on a different team guys have 90. There all pretty close

The coaching changes only affect simmed games. If you change the Bears to 3-4, they will sim games using the 3-4.

If you play the Bears, they will use Lovie Smith's playbook which is a 4-3.
