When was the last time the Yankees weren't the #1 overall team?

I don't think the Yankees have ever been lower than #1 in any of the show games. Even when I played my first baseball simulator which was MVP Baseball 04 they were the best team. Do you think that will change this year with the Red Sox adding Crawford and Gonzalez?

Their pitching top to bottom is too suspect to be the #1 overall team on paper. Who knows though, as I don't know how The Show calculates the Overall. In a 1 game playoff (Online mode) they are arguably going to still be the best team.

Best lineup in the league, Top 3 Bullpen in the league, and a top 5 starter pitching in that one game basically guarantees that for any given game they will be the best team.

Older bats, but VET leadership , pitching injury bug is the major issue I would say Boston is #1 and Yanks are 2

Boston is loaded now at offense with Crawford and Gonzales , of course the rays would have to trade the best player going into his prime years to the same division of course lol

Have we forgotten about the phils and their rotation? They're offense isn't bad by any means either. Id have to say them or the red sox are #1. Yanks should be #3 at best this year.

The lineup isn't really that old with the exception of A-Rod, Jeter and Posada. Everyone else is 30 or younger. Starting pitching is still a major flaw but pretty much the only hole with the Yankees giving their starting lineup and bullpen. I'd still peg them as #3 at the worst. But I do think #1 is possible based on whatever rankings the show has.

yeah, the phillies starting five are mind blowing pitchers,

if their offense has a slightly above average year they will be one of the last four teams competing in the playoffs for sure.

The Yankees pitching staff is laughable at best and downright sad at worst. Sabathia and Hughes might be the only real threats in that rotation, everybody else makes it mighty thin. The Yankees have good offense (and know when to fake it), but their defense is just horrible with Rodriguez and Jeter on the right side. That defense alone takes them out of first overall.

It should probably be the Red Sox and Phillies at the top, followed by the Giants and Rangers.

I think A-Rod's defense is underrated...he has improved a lot at 3B since making the switch, and he's got the best 3B arm in the league.

I don't think id put the giants & rangers @ 3 & 4 tho. Let's be realistic, the giants had some guys who had a surprise year last year and aren't likely to repeat it (aubry huff for example). The rangers lost cliff lee and u don't lose a pitcher that good without ur overall taking a big hit.

The Yanks are the Yanks, and by that i mean they are always there or thereabouts, a $200m payroll guarantees that, but are they the best team in baseball? Nah, not close, to me that has to be the Phils at the moment, an excellent hitting lineup (even without Werth) coupled with an insane rotation, they have to be favourites...but this is baseball, what you think will happen rarely does.

                            Roll on April.

I agree with your points. However, i do think the Rangers will be 3-4 area. You add Beltre who likely will be overrated due to those stats, and Brandon Webb is also likely to be rated well because of his abilities. I think those two will easily cover the Lee rating loss.

I think the Red Sox will be the #1 rated team. The Phillies i think will probably be 3-4 with the Rangers and the Yankees will be #2. While i don't think they are the #2 best team. AL teams tend to get that extra boost from having an additional good hitter- DH. The Yankees do have a very good hitting club and 2 likely highly rated starters and an excellent bullpen.

I guess we'll see in a few weeks.
