Requiem For A Championship - Carolina Panthers [Madden 11]

    REQUIEM FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP
    CAROLINA PANTHERS FRANCHISE

    Game:
    Madden 11 [PS3]
    Difficulty: Custom Sliders
    Quarter Length: 15 Mins.
    Clock Acc.: 25 Secs.
    Team: Carolina Panthers

    Notes:
    - I will be controlling all 32 teams to add entertainment value to this franchise. It will also help from the CPU letting Manning, Brady or other big names go.

    - Simming 2010 (since it's over) and starting in 2011.

    - I will draft Round One for all teams, so the CPU doesn't make stupid picks to ruin themselves.

    - I am going to play all 16 games. I do not like simming my games (besides pre-season) as I want to feel like I did what I could to help my team and I want to be accountable for every yard earned or lost.

    - I will not try to make dumb trades for my gain or the CPUs loss. Everything will be as close to realistic as I can try to keep it.

    - In the off-season, I can only sign one 90-99 player every 2 years, one 80-90 player per year, two 70-80 players per year and the rest is unlimited. Only 5 free agent acquisitions per year, however.

    - Any other rules I think of I will add here.

    - I have my own story to start the franchise out, so stay tuned.

ESPN.com - Panthers Get New Owner

CAROLINA -- The Carolina Panthers have a new owner. It's Carolina and Chicago basketball legend Michael Jordan.

    "Huh?"

That's what a lot of Panthers fans thought on the live message boards as the press conference aired on ESPN.com.

They wanted new ownership, but is Michael Jordan fit for the job of restoring a football franchise? Sure, he is one of the greatest athletes in history, but is he a football fan?

"I've loved football all my life. It hasn't been out in the news, exactly, since I made my living playing in the NBA and my stint in the minor leagues, but I've always been a football fan. When I was growing up in North Carolina we didn't have a team, then we got one in the '90's so I had something to cheer for football wise, and I cared" Jordan said.

"The Super Bowl loss to New England still breaks my heart. We got so close. But there's been enough losing for this franchise, city, and it's fans. I've taken ownership of this team and the path to winning starts today. It starts right here, in this room. We're going to get our guys together and go over every piece of this franchise to see how we want to move forward. Change is coming, thank you" he finished.

That's a great name. I hope Clausen doesn't end up getting his arm sawed off and McDaniels stays away from the pills. I'll stay tuned.

ESPN.com - Gabbert, Clausen To Duke It Out

Carolina -- Panthers head coach Josh McDaniels said today that both young quarterbacks; rookie Blaine Gabbert and second year QB Jimmy Clausen will both be given a chance to start in the regular season.

They will have an old fashion training camp/pre-season battle.

"Whoever comes out the better player will start. Simple as that. We want the best players starting. This will push both guys to their full potential and we will see what that is for both" McDaniels said.

We know DeAngelo is getting up there in age, typically RBs fall off around 30, so we wanted a plan for the future. We plan on using Murray as #3 of the three-headed monster we're creating, along with Stewart and Williams.

We just traded Mike Goodson to Washington for a 3rd rounder so we unloaded some of our talent there.

Add that to the fact that Murray is just overall impressive and playing a little this year will help him grow as we plan to use him a lot more next season. It's all about the future with Mr. Jordan. 'Win now' just never wins.

Trust me with three awesome running backs to help out whichever young QB wins the battle, a great offensive line and now Pierre Garcon and other young WRs, our offense will do nothing but grow and be tearing up defenses for years to come.

As far as defense goes, we have what I believe is one of, if not the best linebacker corps in the league. Couple that with one of the best DB groups and a pass rushing D-Line, I expect a dynasty here.
