    Skyboxer's MLB 11 The Show - HOF Settings

    UPDATE: 3/15
    SMALL CPU Hitting tweaks and a light bump to USER pitcher Accuracy

    OK after tons of games I'm at my happy spot. I used to be a All Star level guy but I couldn't find a good point at all with it this year. Something was just off. So I moved to HOF and am very happy. Now where's the rosters!!! Lol

    Notes:
    1: I do use the POWER swing when appropriate this year as there is a definite risk reward in it and is not as much of an advantage to use it this year.

    2: You will throw walks if you're not afraid to throw walks(not grooving it when you have 3 balls etc..) And if you are patient you will get walks.

    3: Contact swing is your friend. Use it wisely

    4: The only person these are guaranteed to work for is me

    5: You have to play out a few series before making a basis for changes. You will see players flat out struggling and you may think WTH! .. BUT they will come out of the funk. That's why there's a "Who's Hot and Cold" List

    6: If you don't make the pitcher work and give them easy inning after easy inning you will struggle.

    7: Pitch out of the zone and scout the players! You keep all balls in the zone all the time and you will get hit. DON'T BE AFRAID TO WALK BATTERS lol

    Not wishing to nitpick....but

    Isn't the PCI locked to ON with Timing hitting

    I'll give these a shot later and let you know......

      No its not. You turn it off before selecting Timed hitting option.

          SKY - always enjoy your slider sets to test.

          - Last year I used All-Star, and we all concluded All-Star was the best setting for most of us. I think I am going to stick with it....but I ask, why the change??

          **I also use "Zone" hitting, but everything else you turn on/off is very close to what I use.

          I am going to try and use these on All-Star w/ Zone hitting and see how it plays out.

            We must have very similar skill levels, Skyboxer. This is the 3rd or 4th year in a row that I'm getting perfect results with your sliders.

              I just couldn't get a set that I felt was good. Something is off in All Star this year. I wanted to get to a point where each at bat was a game in itself and where ratings really showed through. I couldn't get there with AS.

              **I also use "Zone" hitting, but everything else you turn on/off is very close to what I use.

              Yeah I love zone but for franchise I want the players ratings to matter more than my skill but wanted some input from me to have a bit more fun. So I went with timing. Zone and or analog I'll use in RTTS
              I am going to try and use these on All-Star w/ Zone hitting and see how it plays out.

              I really love these. I haven't lost yet where I didn''t say "I know where we screwed up"
              Whether it was bad pitching decision or a costly error to start a rally by the CPU.

              Currently sitting in 3rd and Jeter FINALLY starting coming around.
              It's probably a tad more challenging then last year but again nothing feels cheap and we play a good game and get the win it feels nice..

                I really like these sliders with the exception of pitcher control/consistency. My last game Tim Hudson was all over the place and his ball to strike ration was right around 50/50. His pitch count was near 90 in the 5th inning! Now I don't mind walking batters here and there but it just seemed like he couldn't hit his spots at all. What would you recommend if this problem continues?

                  I started the same way until I started pitching not only corners but also outside the zone to get them to chase and more importantly to NOT get in any type of pattern. Also (especially during warmups) Pitch with different length of holding the button to see how each pitchers throws change in regards to the length of time you hold the button. I'm usually in the mid 70's for Ball strike ratio. Sometimes higher and sometimes lower.

                  Shouldn't really suggest changes as I promised myself I wouldn't lol
                  Sliders are fickle as when you change 1 thing it affects other stuff.

                  Make small changes (USER Accuracy or Consistancy for example) but watch the CPU batting stats as you may have to adjust their contact rating.
                  But again whatever changes you need to make to fit you only do so after a decent amount of games. Let the stats play out.

                  EDIT: MAKING A TWEAK.

                    Ok just went over some stats from the last 15'ish games and I am making a small tweak (Jeesh I said I wasn't doing that BUT I have to fix it.)
                    The higher quality pitchers ERA and basic "getting Shelled Numbers" were a tad high.

                    This is it Folks. From here on out. Whatever happens happens and it's Sky's World.

                    Have Fun.

                    Thanks to JayD for getting me to look at the latest overall numbes/stats of individual pitchers. I dropped the ball on that one as after last group of games.
                    Update in RED on 1st post

                    UPLOADED to Vault (pulled old one)

                      SKY-

                      Played my first game with these sliders-

                      ...but I use:

                      * All-Star levels
                      * Zone hitting
                      * Analog pitching

                      Philadelphia Phillies (me) vs Colorado Rockies

                      Roy Halladay vs Ubaldo Jimenez

                      -it's always tough facing the "ace" of the staff, so I don't know if it was good for me to start out facing Jimenez.

                      **I gave up "back-to-back-to-back" homeruns to the 2,3,4 hitters at Citizens Ball Park - in the VERY first inning (with the wind blowing straight OUT @ 8 mph mind you)

                      **I bounced back in the 3rd inning with a solo shot by Victorino: down 3-1

                      **Colorado scored another 2 runs (solo homerun by Tulowitzski & a double by Fowler bringing in a run) in the 5th inning to take a 5-1 lead...they were knocking Halladay around pretty good. (*I decide to pull Halladay from the game in mid-5th inning: he had thrown 94 pitches and they were picking his pitches up easily)

                      **With still only having ONE hit (Victorino's HR), up came Francisco in the 6th inning for a solo HR. (Now, I have 2 hits - BOTH are homeruns) score is 5-2

                      **8th inning Colorado hits another homerun- this time it's Seth Smith, and then they rally to score another run off another Fowler double. Score is 7-2

                      **Bottom of the 9th (Colorado finally pulls Jiminez from the game after throwing 112 pitches (pitching a 2-hitter so far) ... pinch hit homerun by Dominic Brown.

                      Final score: Colorado: 7 Philadelphia (me) 3

                      Colorado hits: 13
                      Philadelphia hits: 3

                      ***I only had 3 hits - all 3 were solo homeruns - 2 of the 3 homeruns were "CONTACT" swings (basically protecting the plate)

                      ***Playing in a band-box (Citizens Ball Park) with the WIND blowing OUT made a difference.

                          Set looks good Sky - I was unaware that hot/cold zones are insignificant without strike zone ON. I hate the strike zone - it's too distracting, so I guess I'm playing without hot/cold zones. Although I'm still pitching to them!

                          What was your reasoning dropping the pitch speed to 3/4? Was in more in line with picking up pitches or catching up to fastballs? How many walks are you throwing a game?

                            My 44 year old eyes...
                            For me even when looking fastball I was always late even on 88-92 ish fastballs. I don't mind that with 95 and above. So I lowered it.
                            And it was also (like you said) to pick up the ball easier to help with walks.

                            However either it's my eyes or something but I really haven't noticed that much of a change (if any) in the ball speeds even after lowering it from default.

                            Now I just wish we had rosters so I can start a real franchise! There is a set with the top 100 prospects I may use though. I'm just really itching to start!

                              ...but I use:

                              * All-Star levels
                              * Zone hitting
                              * Analog pitching

                              All Star Level had me so frustrated this year which is why I went to HOF. So far I've only given up 2 HR's in a game and both were from Detroits (Ordonez I believe)
                              Power just seems to be the name of the game in The Show this year IMO. It's manageable though if you pitch to good locations and not be afraid to walk people.

                              I'm using zone hitting in my RTTS mode
