Changeups are killing this game for me

What is up with the changeup, more specifically, the circle change? The circle change down in the zone thrown by the cpu is unhittable and seems to always get a strike call when if you don't swing. It seems that cpu pitchers will always get a called strike, even if the pitch is mostly off of the strike zone box. Picking up on pitches leaving the pitchers hand is hard enough to begin with, then you get cheese changeups? Sheesh, this game is almost TOO hard.

What camera are you using? I don't see the pitch out of the zone being called a strike that often..I chase a lot of them too, but when I can hold off an it is a ball it is called as such. Do you use contact swing when behind in the count? Fouling off a few of them will help you see the movement.

I too have trouble with the change up low. heres what I do:

      guess fastball

      guess down

if you get a change up low you will get your circle and you will know its not a fastball so sit back and wait on it.

Good call on the guess pitch, I generally don't use it too much. Guess correctly or not, it is very hard judging pitches low out of the zone. I wish The Show would implement a batter's view similar to 2K's.

That is why I asked you what view you are using. Not only are there several really good hitting cams this year, you have the option to make custom cams. So if you want a 2K11ish camera you can make it.

Often times when the CPU is relying a bit to much on the change up low I just turn guess pitch on 1/4th. I don't use guess pitch until strike 2 and then start guessing low. If you consider that cheating so be it but it's how I keep the CPU honest instead of letting it rely too heavily on a pitch that is extremely hard to judge in this game.

It's very difficult to judge whether a pitch is just low or in the dirt. Not nearly as clear as it should be.

I also have major issues with the changeup. Also, it seems this year, that when the cpu gets you looking foolish on a couple, they continue to throw it over, and over again. In one at bat today, the cpu threw 5 changeups out of 6 pitches. Which I can understand, being I couldn't even put one in play. I am currently using the "catcher 9" cam. What batting view might make it a little easier to pickup the change?

It is tough and I will say I've been victim many times to the low changeups.

I might need to change my camera view.

In real life changeups low are actually easy to lay off.

Generally, a camera that is lower to the ground makes it easier to spot pitches that are up or down for me.

I use Wide as a preset and then have the camera pulled down some (with L stick) and slightly tilted back (with R stick) and then zoomed so it's right on the batter's box. It makes things feel more level IMO. I did this because I felt it was a good balance between easier reads and visual appeal (for me, of course).

So if reading low pitches is a primary concern, I'd probably bring it down even more.

                      Yeah, right.

In real-life, low changups and low and away sliders are death to hitters ... just like in this game.

Where else would a pitcher throw a changeup, if not low?

The 'wide' camera setting for hitting is what I have been using most recently, but I really don't like how big the batter appears on the screen with it. So far it has been the best cam for me to see the ball break from the pitcher's hand.

Trevor Hoffman's career begs to differ.

This is why I guess fastball almost everytime, that way, if youre wrong, chances are its gonna be off speed, unless they have another fb...then, knowing its gonna be offspeed, lay off if its low, smash it if its high.

Lol dont blame the game, learn to hit em

My point is: low changeups that are out of the zone are not hard to lay off, especially in non-two strike counts.

Oh and good job bringing up Hoffman, who had arguably the best changeup ever.

It's easier to recognize the difference between a fastball/change in real life than this game.

For you guess pitch people: I'll never use it so those tips don't help me
