    Homerun happy?

Anybody else notice this game seems to be a tad bit HR happy. I'm playing as the Nationals and in most of my games most runs come off of HRs. Now I understand I have a power team and often swing with power, but with that said the AI also crushes my pitches. I played both Atlanta and Florida and, granted Atlanta has excellent power hitters, every third hit seemed to leave the park. It just seems that there should be more singles and doubles and less HRs. I would go as far as to say that my HR count is the majority of my runs scored.

Now last year I played as Florida and Kansas City. Even with Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla, Cody Ross, and Corky Fugate( an amazing fake player on their roster) HRs were like a gift, especially when hit near the Teal Monster. Now they are guarenteed. With Washington my best HR hitter was CF Rick Ankiel and even then I hit very few HRs. In my Washington franchise everytime I have Rick Ankiel at bat I have a great shot at gettig a HR.

The game kinda reminds me of a book I read awhile back by Matt Christopher called The Kid Who Only Hit Home Runs or something close to that.

I have gone back to all of last years controls because fielding was way too touchy, hitting was IMO easier, and Pitching seemed to never actually mimic my motion and missing by of micrometer ended up a HR which is quite annoying.

Just curious if anybody noticed this. Oh, and I also wanted to vent a bit too, feel a little better now.

unfortunately I have not notice this. I play on All-star, using timing hitting and I got the game on March 8th. I am just hitting my first homer with the Braves using the J-Hey kid. It is not my first time around the block with the show. I have playing it since 2006.

I usually hit 1 home run a game. But I also have a great balance of singles and doubles too.

I am not seeing this at all. Of course I am playing with the Padres. I am currently dead last in home runs.

I have noticed this. I am still messing with sliders.

One game I played I had 10 hits, 5 of them hr's. The computer also had 5 hr's.

Alot of hr's from non hr hitting guys.

I think its the wind guys. Its really quite overblown this year. I had a game this morning where I hit 5 HR's and the AI hit 3. There was a 13mph wind blowing straight out towards centre field and it seemed like everything was getting wacked out of the park. Then in games where the wind is blowing towards the plate I find that even power hitters can't get it out towards the fences.

You should try turning down the wind. That made a big difference in my franchise.

                    Re: Homerun happy?

I think a lot of it is the wind too. However, I have wind down -4 and I have had hit HR's with some singles hitters. I was playing as the Royals and I believe it was either the leadoff or #2 hitter in their lineup I hit 2 hr's with.

One thing I have been wanting them to do is add a HR rating and gap power rating. Instead of just having power rating it would be nice to have these other 2 ratings. These are true ratings too. Some guys are line drive hitters. Some guys are HR hitters. Just read some scouting reports. You will clearly see them mention gap power. This could add to the sim element. Hitters will actually act like their self.

Now I'm not saying that if someone has a good gap power rating that anything they hit good will automatically be put in the gap. I'm just saying that these guys will have the ability to put the ball in the gap much more so than someone that has a very poor gap power rating. As for HR's, not all guys are HR hitters. Plain and simple. A lot of guys in the league average no more than 10 hr's a season. I would just like the algorithm changed for guys that have HR power or simply are HR hitters vs guys that just simply do not hit more than 5 hr's a season. I hate hitting 2 hr's a game with someone that hit all of 7 the entire season before.

                      Re: Homerun happy?

I've had a HR issue too. Lately I've been winning but 90% of my runs are coming off HR's. I'm playing the Yankees until Knights rosters come out and I know their stadium is a HR hitter dream but still. I'm gonna try playing on All Star. Been playing on Veteran but it's time to move up in the world lol. But I posted screen shots of what happened at Nationals park a week ago when I hit 13 HR's with my guys 1-9 including Peavy who blasted one. The wind was blowing straight out at 20mph and it seemed like all I had to do was get the ball in the air.

                      Here it is again:

Hahaha that's insane!! I guess stuff like this should happen once in a blue moon or else there would be something wrong with the game. You smashed the HR record by one team though! Thanks Wiki Answers...

What is the MLB record for most home runs in one game?

For a player it is 4, done by 15 players most recently by Mark Whiten. Answer

The major league record for homeruns in one game by both teams is (12). Done twice by the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox's. 5-28-1995 Detroit(7) and Chicago(5) and on 7-02-2002, Detroit(6) and Chicago(6). <HR itxtNodeId="270">
The Major League record for most home runs hit in a single game by both teams seems modest, considering the record for one team is ten. On two occasions, in 1995 and 2002, the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox, in American League games, combined to hit twelve home runs. The National League record in eleven and it has been done four times; the Chicago Cubs have been involved in three of the four games, one in 1979, the most recent.

On default settings I agree that there is a
Bit of HR happy to the game.

Kinda was wondering about there being too many, but on default All-Star, I just went 5 games (!) without a single HR with the Mets. The Ai hit one in that span. Thought that was pretty funny.

And that dude who hit 13 had quite the All-Star team. Not saying that justifies all thise HRs, but jeesh what a team!
