Madden 11 Franchise Question

Does anybody know If you play the preseason games of your franchise, That it will help your players, stat wise (Player Progression)?

It doesn't affect the players at all, minus potentially injuring them.

I always disable Injuries before week 1 of the pre-season, then sim through it and then activate them again. Problem solved and keeps me from investing 4 hours into meaningless games each season.

In previous versions it would help your younger players progress only. It is something they hopefully bring back or tweak to make preseason games mean something.
